Lawsuit: Alcoholics who drive should be a protected class, because they are used to driving drunk.

Yeah, seriously.

From JuanitaJean.com:

a guy who had his fourth DWI conviction says the DWI laws in Texas are discriminatory because the discriminate against … yeah, alcoholics.
Ralph Alfred Friesenhahn argued that the state’s driving limit of 0.08 blood-alcohol concentration ignores the higher tolerances that frequent drinkers have to the effects of liquor, allowing the “protected class of alcoholics” to be prosecuted without having to prove that they had lost control of their mental or physical abilities.

Friesenhahn was arrested after a single-car rollover accident along a rural Comal County road south of New Braunfels. Blood tests later indicated that he had an alcohol concentration of 0.29 — more than 3½ times the legal limit.

Did I mention..Texas? Where, Juanita points out, you CAN be drunk and still carry a gun.

What an idiot!

I live in Austin where drunk driving is a real problem... just this past weekend some young girl mowed over a man on his vespa and she had NO IDEA she hit anyone! She thought it was roadkill! He died and her life is now ruined.

Fuck drunk drivers!

in this county in the last 10 years, I could pay off the mortgage.
Extra 5.00 if it is a big pickup.

ALL of them on our 2 lane roads, all of them speeding, half of them after midnight.

Then there are the ones that hit and kill an innocent driver.

driving the truck next to me was sipping at a beer. That was a WTF moment. I asked myself if the laws had changed recently and I had been left out of the loop.

Even built prototypes. The most common one is a breathalyser you have to pass before the car will start.
The idea never went anywhere, the drunks kept driving without a license and in some cases hit and killed other people, I knew 2 who managed to kill themselves but took out some innocent driver also.

I really don’t understand this. Breathalyzers are cheap. Maybe drunk passengers set it off? I am just at a loss to understand why we permit this mass slaughter when we could stop lots of it

It's not just for starting the car; I think you have to do it every 10-20 minutes while driving. Sadly, I've heard of people taking their kids with them just to beat the device.

It's one of the question s we ask to help determine stages.
"Do you feel drunker quicker on less liquor than you used to?"
Surprising number of guys will answer yes to that question, cause they don't understand what it means so don't try to hide it.

I say guys, because women DUIs are usually not mandated into treatment for a variety of reasons.

From this morning?

Well, here’s a fun fact. The word brazen comes from the Anglo Saxon word for bronze or brass.

And that’s what we see in this article: a set of brass balls big enough to make the Wall Street bull blush in embarrassment. Brazen insanity. Especially on the part of the attorney.
