After he told him last year he wouldn't. Gosh Pat,sucks to be LIED to eh??? What's happening is that farmers buy crop insurance but don't pay the full price--it's subsidized by the Federal Guberment. Trump wants to drop those subsidies from 62% to 48% of the cost so Pat's underwear is in a wad.
Strange...he doesn't give a rats ass if 100% of ACA subsidies for HUMANS would go away--in fact he voted for that to happen.

(82,849 posts)But yeah, first person I thought of for Sen. Roberts to go commiserate with. Imagine! Donald Trump lied to them. Trump's going to get just seven times seventy more chances or the two distinguished senators will think about being done with him!

"7 times 70"? What does that equation refer to? 490 what?

(82,849 posts)The disciples are looking to find the limit of how much grace they should extend to people: Should we forgive someone who has wronged us even seven times? Jesus tells them to forgive seven times seventy times or, really, an infinite number of times. I'm confident there are some nitwit literalists who keep a running tally of the number of times each person in their lives wrongs them, completely missing the point of what Jesus said.

(6,932 posts)But trust me,those idiots in far western Kansas would vote for Trump again if he took ALL of their subsidy away. There were counties out there (small population) that went 90+ % for Trump. Hell these fools voted for FDR in majority only twice---32/36,then with a recovery slowly taking place they went back to voting Republican
Brings to mind AGAIN the Tomas Franks book....What's the matter with Kansas?

2. Farm subsidies are riddled with corruption. Republicans wouldn't let Democrats do anything about it, but as part of the current passion for slashing taxes on billionaires, some Republicans in congress are looking to clean this up a bit. Senator Grassley has a bill that supposedly would tidy up some while still maintaining a strong farm safety net, that's (in what's becoming classic Banana Republicanism) simultaneously tied up with kicking people off food stamps. See the conflict there?
A small-farm advocate, the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, said it was heartening that Perdues list touched on issues of interest to small, diversified, and organic farmers, such as working lands conservation, ag research, and assistance for beginning farmers, but lamented that others, like local and regional marketing, were neglected. We are also concerned by the suggestion of potentially disastrous changes to nutrition assistance programs, said the NSACs Greg Fogel. In this document, USDA seems to imply a fundamental change in our food security programs that could not only challenge the Agencys antihunger objectives but also could seriously risk the timely passage of a new farm bill.
House Agriculture Chairman Michael Conaway said in The New Yorker that the biggest fight in the farm bill may be over food stamps rather than farm assistance. I dont want it to be just a Republican bill, and thats going to be a challenge, said Conaway.
