My mother-in-law just got screwed by the DoD Reauthorization Act on her medicines.

She gets her medicines shipped every 90 days from Express Scripts. She has Medicare and TriCare for Life. Tricare is supposed to pay for her medicines. She received her first shipment of 90 day meds from Express Scripts and they charged her for them. Called ES and they said it was due to the Defense Dept Reauthorization Act.

I know, it is just $15/month she has to pay right now, but next year they will probably jack that up again. She's on a fixed income, SSI only, and she isn't a rich woman.

I've called our two senators to say, "What the hell? Fix this!"

I bet I hear nothing in return.

When was this passed? I hadn't heard anything on it. Let us know what you hear if you hear.

The aide I spoke with was clueless, but Express Scripts said they are getting a lot of calls about it, and are having to explain what happened. The ES customer service lady said, "Congress passed it to save the government money." I told her, "well, they aren't saving my MIL money. They've screwed her. I can understand that they may require working military personnel to chip in, but she's retired, on SSI."

I'm pissed. I'll probably have to start getting some of her medicines locally to save money, whereas before I only had to manage her Rxs online every 90 days.

Fuck Republicans.

which my husband would have to do. If she can get them at a VA Office, it will still be at least 45 minutes.
