His rhetoric is pure cold war for the 21st century, of course, and he views Russia and the West as opposed, with Russia under attack.

His rhetoric is also not knew. Similar things have been said on Rossiya 1 and Rossiya 24 for well over a decade. Even during the 'reset'. But you can't tell somebody whose willfully deaf what's being said.

This Russian guy is very ignorant. Maybe it is just hyperbole and is lost in translation, but an American Civil War would be a Global War. No one would be safe. Also, a Great Depression would not be contained in America, but would devastate the Global Economy. So this guy is talking junk. Nationalists and Isolationists just do not know how the World works in the 21st Century. We are all in this together, like it or not.
