http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/romney-on-taxes-dont-want-to-give-dems--1Mitt Romney has no intention of releasing more than two years of tax returns because he doesnt want to give Democrats more fodder for attacking him, he told NBCs Brian Williams Wednesday. Romney repeated a point he has made several times, arguing that Democrats will twist the returns into something that can be used against him.
And what weve noted is our Democrat friends, take whats there, twist it, distort it dishonestly use it in in attack ads. I just dont wanna give em more material than is required, Romney said.

OK, I'll ask, which 2 years is he going to release? And will they be redacted?

(82,383 posts)Then he should not attack President Obama, either! What a jerk! Who the hell is he that his record is not to be scrutinized? And with a fine tooth comb with an eye to finding something to attack him over? Like he's not doing it.

(21,925 posts)of the old Gong Show. He's the head circus clown of his party and he wants to be completely unknown. I mean his argument that releasing tax returns might give ammunition to Obama is something he could say about any information about himself at all. He's basically insisting that the American people should have no information on him about anything.

(23,664 posts)The 2 years he is talking about are the 2 years he has already released, 2010 and 2011.

(22,308 posts)There are some documents concerning his offshore accounts that were not released but I guess that technically they are not part of the return itself.
To my knowledge nothing is redacted.
The two problems with this IMO are:
1) Yes, McCain only released 2 years of returns but he was a Senator forever and had to release financial disclosure forms for all the time he spent in office.
2) The guy didn't have a job for those two years. What good are returns from a guy who doesn't even have a real job?
