I was looking on Craigslist and noticed the discussion section.

Normally I wouldn't give it a second look, but the politics category caught my eye. I could not believe the vitriol, stupidity, and closed mindedness of the right wing cretins. I also wondered why anyone would bother trying to have a discussion with them

I posted a few links to my Etsy store (pussyhats) in CL's politics section. I chose the blue NYC.

Within 24 hours, my posts were flagged as inappropriate, yet hate speech was allowed to stand.

(I figured I had nothing to lose by doing this as CL is free).

Dems should try to appeal to them during the elections.

There is an ongoing discussion out there about reaching Trump voters.

FUCK Trump voters.

on all of my hobby forums. That made it ironic for me to be a member here but then you can see/feel the difference - and probably because it is mostly like-minded people here vs a place like Discussionist, that is like those "other", foaming-at-the-mouth political forums that are generally offtopic forums from a main site's focal subject.

mainly because you can’t have an intelligent discussion or debate with any of them anymore. The only responses you ever get are to call you a name (i.e “snowflake, lib, commy”) or the common replies i.e. “but but Hillary, Obummer, Hildabeast” etc., really moronic posts. The depth of their reading is “Clinton Cash”.

I would honestly like to find ONE who is intelligent enough to debate their positions but have come to the conclusion that none exist. The fact is they can’t defend anything the right is doing so they call names instead. Typically I see left wing people making good, common sense, educated posts, and then nothing but this drivel coming back at them, so I gave up posting on those websites.

The whole discourse (if you can call it that) is littered with juvenile name mangling and name calling and nonsensical expletives. I.e., the discussion is done out of anger versus out of knowledge of, and desire to promote and defend certain policy positions from the right. I suppose this is because that type is continually fed what I call the "anger propaganda" that is spewed on RW political entertainment talk radio, and they just regurgitate it.

And think about all that has transpired, especially with social media and the unrest that came with it, then it is not hard to start to wonder if the last decade has been targeted tampering with the United States to create chaos. Especially now knowing that the Russians have been using troll farms and trying to cause disruption within the United States Government for several years.

Think about how many bots and trolls were used to incite and train right wing radicals in the U.S. for years just through social media. It's Putin's jackpot to have trained disciples to always keep the pot stirred.
