Hope Hicks Not Able to Perform Her Job

PERSONAL NOTE: I don't like Hop Hicks for numerous reason, but I cannot judge her for her personal life as I recall watching a dear friend enter into a relationship with a guy we (the woman included) knew to be a total piece of crap.

Wall Street Journal: “In the West Wing press office, communications officer Mercedes Schlapp told some staffers to come to her with questions because Ms. Hicks was ‘dealing with a lot’ and ‘not able to perform the duties of communications director right now,’ according to three people familiar with the meeting. Two people described Ms. Schlapp’s move as a power play, while a third said Ms. Schlapp was only trying to protect the communications team.”

She has dated three people in the WH, no? We all know this is a mistake. At least one was married during her relationship.

She's a big girl. This way of life is a choice. Sure, she might figure it out eventually. But this is the WH. If she can't do it right now, take a leave of absence. Quit. But this isn't the time or place to close up shop and 'not be able to do your job.'

If All these people in the white house , including the president are ingrant to the rules , then they should not be there. I'm tired of repugs saying that he not use to these rules or regulations because he or she was a business person. Well if you aren't familiar with these rules, you never should accept the position. And if you put yourself in that position, then you ought to suffer the consequence. Everybody else out in the real world can't use this excuse and get away with it.

I'm 71 and retired now. But during my professional career in Corp America, I completely avoided office romances. During the romance, women are called sluts to climb the corporate ladder, rather than be promoted on merit. And when the romance falls apart, there's tension in the office, and the woman gets gossiped about in very ugly terms.

If it's a supervisor/subordinate situation, then it's absolutely inappropriate. If it's two people on the same team or in a small department, it should also definitely be avoided.

But if it's two people working independently in different areas, I don't see a problem with it. But, then, I say this as someone whose marriage is the result of a workplace romance.

Going on 27 and 30 years together, respectively.

And I completely agree with your assessment of when it is and is not a good idea.

That said, before getting married, I dated a lot of guys at my company. Most of them were perfect assholes, but none developed into anything awkward. Also, I stayed away from guys in my own department, and certainly away from guys who had any kind of authority over my job.

I think these days most people realize that it's almost impossible to meet people other than the ones you work with, especially in orgs where you work long hours and socialize within the company.

You just reminded me that my brother married a lady from work, too. Twenty-two years and two kids.

There really isn't a better way to get to know someone's personality, reliability, likes/dislikes, etc. It's a hell of a lot better and safer than Tinder and the like.

still able to steam tRump's suits while he is wearing them? Reportedly, that is one of her duties. Someone in that inner circle is about to be Schlapped. I wonder if Ivanka will take over that very important job? We all know Maleria does not get close enough to trump to perform THAT duty, unless of course it comes with a huge paycheck.

There have been rumors that she has been having an affair with Trump. If so, why would he want her dating anyone else? That could also explain why he is reported to be blaming her for this latest debacle.

But then again, maybe they were not beards. Both times a relationship of hers is brought to light, the guy got fired.
