They were on the spousal abuse dude in SHITLER's mob - the two+ instances, how he failed at security clearance yet given full access, how could KELLY NOT know, etc.
McCAIN started to give her spin, was going to make spousal abuse a non-partisan topic, saying, "As a Republican I'm offended by..."
And Joy broke in with:
After a minute of back and forth, ALL HADES broke out!1 McCAIN went into her usual not-taking-crap-about-being-a-Repuke thing with the wingnut fury not seen since HASSELHOFF!
Methinks, La Megan ain't long for The View, and THANK YOU JOY FOR EVERYTHING FOR SO LONG!1tr

.... After a heavy sigh, Meghan said, "Well, you're offended by Republicans, so all Republicans, probably, and everywhere...(you're) offended by me sitting herebecause I'm a Republican!"
"I'm offended by a party that backs a racist!" Joy shouted.
"Oh, my God!" Meghan said. Joy continued to spar with her co-host, saying, "Oh, come on! Oh, come on, Meghan! Seventy-two percent of the Republican Party thinks he's a good role model."
"I'm going on The Van Jones Show on Saturday and I was actually looking forward to talking about this in a way that is respectful and not being told that just because I'm a Republican I'm offending you," Meghan said. "We're not going to move the needle one way or the other just throwing out platitudes and hubris like that. I would like to have a real conversation about it."
"Oh, really?" Joy asked. "Oh, really?"
"I don't know why you're sitting here saying you're offended by all Republicans," Meghan said. "I'm trying to give you my perspective" Cutting her off again, Joy said, "Because 72 percent of them are backing a racist and somebody who has abused women. That's why! That's why!"
"Do you know that my father was accused of being racist, and Mitt Romney was accused of being racist, and Jeb Bush was accused?" Meghan asked. Fired up, Joy replied, "Your father is not in the Republican Party of today, darling! Those people are not in today's Republican party." ....

(24,894 posts)For a very long time.
Their fake "deficits suck" stance under democratic presidents, is a real giveaway, given how they embrace.them when they are in power.
They are fake patriots, fake conservatives, even.
I suppose there are good Rs amongst them, but as a political party they stink.

(26,427 posts)I'm pretty sick and tired of Meghan and her self-victimization routine.
And, strangely, I'm not finding Nancy Grace to be nearly as odious as usual. Maybe the whole Meghan vibe is mitigating the Nancy effect.

It's fake stridency to be the "other side" on that show.

(11,764 posts)I think that the Nixon Administration is where the whole "The world is against us, but we are right" mentality was really solidified. Nixon battling it out with the Press, along with Wormtongue Roger Ailes in his ear about GOPTv. They started to make a sacrament out of the "silent majority", these poor put upon conservatives that have to watch Christianity have equal footing with other religious traditions and atheism. Whites actually having to have an equal playing field with minorities, Men with women, etc...
Conservatives have been the victims of oppression (in their minds) forever. The sad reality however, is that while conservatives may try to stop progress, they never will as change is inevitable. They are only victims of their own narrow minds.
ProfessorGAC
(65,874 posts)Might even go back to W. Wilkie, who did the "put upon by the New Dealers" routine. But, certainly that happened during the late 60's, as you say.

(198 posts)ago my mother made the decision that she was just too tired to make the 120 mile round trip to dialysis three times a week. She was ready. The family gathered, we took turns trying to sleep. After the sixth day she was in a coma and died the next day. My point.......oh how I wish I had recorded her stories. Like this one: My father bringing her to meet his parents and how they didn't take a liking to her, how dad didn't want her to work but gave in because of us five kids......just all kinds of stories I hadn't heard. Alas, no one in our family was thinking all that clearly and her stories will have to live on in our memories. Oh how I wish I had recorded those last days.....to your point regarding these last days, quoting you that it "will be very important to her later" is so very true. I personally thinks she's selfish, and is only thinking of herself.

It's like there's this unspoken mantra that we Dems are smarter, more educated and enlightened, and that this is therefore an unfair advantage, for which we owe them a few.clear shots!

But giving cover to a serial wife beater, oh THAT'S off limits eh? Fuck off, Meghan.

(34,195 posts)Nah ~ she's been playing the pity card a long time.
Repeatedly on the verge of tears about how the other members of 'The View' don't respect Trump
and how she has to 'explain' his policies.
The funniest comment I heard her make a few weeks ago was when she said:
"Most people view me as a moderate,
but I'm pro-life and 2nd amendment."

Altho it wouldn't surprise me if he had been given full access, since the WH is currently so corrupt and unethical and doesn't care about the security of the country.

(26,094 posts)about the topic and she got snippy, said she had her own opinion separate from her father or husband, but she's ALWAYS talking about her father. That was rude. She used to insist she didn't like Trump because he was mean to her father, but she gets that sour look on her face every time Trump's criticized and jumps in to do the false equivalency.

(7,261 posts)Typical repuke, she's so nasty! Hardline this, hardline that. But if it's her pet project or friend, then it's all good.
I've noticed Joy is not as funny with that nasty person on the panel. She's so busy refuting the crap MM spews that she can't put her comedic spin on anything. Look what happened when she tried to laugh about the absurdity of Kelly's supposed ignorance of the wife beater. McCain took her head off.

i wonder what she was going to say...
"as a republican i am offended..." (looks like she was saying "at" and maybe "the"
i was surprised at how spunky and back to normal joy seemed today. ever since she came back from having the flu i've thought she's been under the weather and rather unresponsive. today she was back in all her glory and kicked some ass.

(34,655 posts)"Your father is not in the Republican Party of today, darling! Those people are not in today's Republican party." ....
Au contraire. They absolutely ARE in "today's Republican party." McCain voted for the tax scam. McCain voted with Cheeto Benito 95% of the time, and so did the other so-called"moderate" or "sane" republicans.
Meghan McCain is lying to herself and the rest of us when she claims that she doesn't support what today's Republican party stands for. Her arguments against what's happening are anemic at best and disingenuous and dishonest at worst.
