It's a scam.
If you call back, the party at the other end will use various trick to keep you on the line at exorbitant rates per minute, and drain your pre-paid account, or run up huge bills for your phone, which the phone company will insist you pay.
If you check the area code on the number, it may be from another country, but now they can spoof a local area code, but any call back will be to a foreign country.

(14,547 posts)If a number pops up, I don't answer it. Everyone I know is in my cell, even businesses that I use. So their name should appear on my screen, not number.

So if I don't know them, I don't answer.

I'm holding my phone, it rings and the caller ID is my own phone#.

I got a scam call that had spoofed my accountant's number!
