At National Prayer Breakfast Trump Says America Believes in God Because It's on Our Money

'Our Currency Declares in God We Trust'

President Donald Trump tried to convince attendees at Thursday morning's National Prayer Breakfast that he is one of them and believes America is a nation founded in faith by reminding them that "In God We Trust" is printed on U.S. currency. The president pushed his version of Christian nationalism by telling them several places where God is mentioned in American institutions.

"Each year this event reminds us that faith is central to American life, and to liberty," Trump told the 3000 or so attendees. "The founders invoked our creator four times in the Declaration of Independence. Our currency declares, 'In God We Trust.' And we place our hands on our hearts as we recite the Pledge of Allegiance and proclaim we are 'one nation under God.'"

"Our rights are not given to us by man. Our rights come from our Creator," the president claimed. "No matter what, no earthly force can take those rights away."

"That is why the words, 'Praise be to God' are etched atop the Washington Monument," Trump added.

The same day, the President signed into law[14] a requirement that "In God We Trust" be printed on all U.S. currency and coins. On paper currency, it first appeared on the silver certificate in 1957, followed by other certificates. Federal Reserve Notes and United States Notes were circulated with the motto starting from 1964 to 1966, depending on the denomination.[8][15] (Of these, only Federal Reserve Notes are still

Moscow/Russia/USSR. I bet 'Rump doesn't know that.

I remember the fear of the godless commie USSR. I ducked and covered for the nuke drills in school. I knew then and still recall why that was put on money. Where the heck was 'Rump?

Disgusting and frightening. Not him, but the millions he's schmoozing and appeasing with these seditious lies.

by others around the world. In fact, tRump himself would happily abridge the rights of others given half a chance. So to claim that “creator given rights can’t be taken away by any earthly force” is absurd on the face of it. But it sure makes a nice sound bite, eh tRumpolini? That’s all you care about, you Wannabee dictator.
