John Kennedy of Louisiana. I'll paraphrase what he said about trump*'s requested parade: 'Confidence is silent but insecurity is loud.' I think that is spot on.

(36 posts)Kennedy was a Democrat before he changed parties to a republican. He supports the 2nd amendment but leans left on pretty much everything else. Great guy and really connects with the community. He volunteers teaches in the local school districts as a sub.

And to see the dedication of the teaching and administrative staff.

(2,787 posts)He supports the 2nd amendment, but leans left on everything else? Then why did he support the GOP tax scam? Why did he vote to take healthcare away from people?

Fiscally and legislatively he's still on the far right (think he's a Teabagger), but he tells it like it is. Some things, like this, I like.

(3,257 posts)He is one of the worst. So he sticks up his finger in the wind and comes up with his line. They all know the ship is sinking. It's going to be every man for himself. I'm sure every poitician has some rference book of good sounding homilies. With the tax bill he helped get through leading to a non stop government funding crises and a completely disfunctional executive and legislative branch the writing is on the wall.

(26,308 posts)But I feel compelled to give credit where credit is due. Some of the people I saw interviewed weaseled their way through their statements, trying to please their 'base' while also disagreeing with trump*. It was quite a balancing act.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.
No parade can compensate for such tiny hands.

(26,308 posts)There was a time, not so long ago, when NOBODY in the GOP would ever break their '11th Commandment'. Now it seems to be something that is gaining steam, and I welcome it, no matter who it is coming from.

(26,308 posts)I'm hoping we hear and see many more cracks and voices of dissent because that hasn't happened since Reagan.
There's no telling - maybe some of these people will start putting country ahead of party. And maybe not, but I will appreciate hearing it each and every time, should that ever happen.
