... that said, essentially, that when regimes choose code names for military operations that reflect propaganda, is is a sign that the regime is morally bankrupt.

We called the Normandy landings "Operation Overlord," not "Operation Liberate Europe." We didn't see the need for the code name to be both justification and masturbation.

As a side note, I wonder when multi-word code names for military operations became fashionable. One word was deemed sufficient for any of the operations we conducted in WWII.

I fortunately won't be around in, say, 50 years when (supposing the human race survives) the history of these times will be written. I can't imagine how anyone who has lived through them can avoid being embarrassed, humiliated, and ashamed of the shit we've pulled.

But, it will be generations before we can bridge the divide. Germany overcame it by trials, convictions, imprisonment, and a zero tolerance for nazi sentiment. The sympathizers went back into the holes they came from. We need zero tolerance. This is not the time for democrats to look forward. If we get power, we take them all down.

Any dictator or strongman can get people excited-but democracy requires reasoning.

I am not against the excitement--but when it comes to running a county I much prefer a Merkel to any number of exciting candidates.

Trump is spoken of like people speak of Benedict Arnold now - and people debate if Arnold or Trump were the biggest traitor in American history.

thing that has happened, in that it may potentially lead to the destruction of the Republican Party. Imagine the effect this is happening on millennials ? They're on their way up, while the Reps are an aging voting block.
