I wish both of them and their families well and hope they still live many more years with us. These are the people you wish could live forever. They can't, but their music will.

He and Lorne Michaels (SNL) were so close friends they bought apartments next to each other and had an open doorway between them.

Amazing that they've been around, in one iteration or another, for 60 years!

I have been listening Paul Simon's music for 50 years or so myself. A couple of weekends ago we had a family get together with one of my sons, my daughter and their children. At the end of the evening we were listening to and all singing along with the "Bridge Over Troubled Water" album. I was surprised that they knew so many of the songs, but they reminded me that they have heard them since they were babies (my youngest assures me he remembers them from the womb).

how timeless OUR music was/is, by which I mean the music of the late 50s, 60s and early 70s.

When i was a teenager, the music of any era prior to my own not only didn't interest me, but didn't interest too many people other than those of that era (i.e., my parents). That would've been Big Band, and some of the crossover stuff from Patti Page, Frank Sinatra, and the like. But most of that music simply did not endure. OURS has. It's not at all uncommon for concerts today from our old greats to be attended by today's teens and young people. NONE of us when I was young would have attended any Big Band concert!

I know not every generation since has good feelings about the Baby Boomers, but we changed the world, and our music alone changed the world. Sooo many great artists, brilliant musicians, so much wonderful music. It thrills me to listen to it, and I'm pretty sure it's not JUST because it's the music of my youth. I know there was something special about it that has enabled it to endure all these decades since -- and beyond.

When my brother started high school in the mid 50's I was introduced to rock and roll. It has become the sound track to my life.

was one of the greatest live events I had the pleasure of attending. His fairly recent tour with Sting was pretty damn good. And he is still making some decent music. Well, there is always Art who is still out there touring and I look forward to seeing in a few months.

I say that because they are a lot of really good albums from the "alternative" world.

Simply flawless
