I love New England and thus am going to root a little bit for the Patriots.
But let's just remember that NFL owners are billionaires out to screw their millionaire players.
This is Bob Kraft, Patriots owner, hanging out with perhaps the most corrosive element to US democracy: Rupert Murdoch.
Kraft often has Murdoch in his owners' box. It's hard for me to root for anyone who doesn't ostracize Murdoch, the billionaire who owns Fox News and has damaged American democracy just for tax cuts for himself.

And this pic is a little unfair, as Kraft only met Putin once or twice. But it does indicate that there is a class of worldwide billionaires that sees themselves as friends regardless of their origin country. And they're all out to screw the little guy - in the US, the UK (Australia) or Russia.

(6,385 posts)I have this vague recollection of and interaction where an owner showed Putin his super bowl ring and put in decided to keep it as a gift. The owner has since pubivally said it wasnt a gift and put in had said all he has to do is come back and ask me for it. Hadnt happened yet.
Wasnt that Kraft?

(6,916 posts)The essential point though is that Kraft and Putin can be buds - because they're both billionaires. From Kraft's point of view, it's better to suck up to Putin because he's a billionaire than to shun him because he murders journalists and attacks America.
Key explanation is here:

How billionaires consider themselves a class apart, with little regard for the nation they're from, and disregard for average people in their countries.

(52,166 posts)The Rooney family who owns the Steelers are big time Dems. I think Cleveland's ownership group is also Democratic.

(6,916 posts)A few are. Nick Hanauer (not a billionaire exactly, but close).
There's the 'patriotic millionaires' group.
But Bob Kraft donates a lot to Dems, but he's good friends with hateful Rupert Murdoch too. Why? Because a lot of billionaires feel a lot closer to other billionaires than they do to their country, or to working class people anywhere.

(15,351 posts)Kraft gives to Retrumplicans, and then a little pittance to the Dems to "cover his bases".
He doesn't want to appear "biased". Kind of like why MSNBC give a half hour to Hugh Hewitt every Saturday and Sunday.
This guys a fucking prick. He's a trumpy and so is his cheating QB and Head Coach.
Fuck him.
The French knew how to deal with these fuckers during the French Revolution.

(15,351 posts)Calling Dems un-American and treasonous because they didn't cheer for the fuckwad... and silence from the Retrumplicans.
I don't think we can go far enough to denounce these fascists and their enablers
