Holocaust denier poised to claim GOP nomination in Illinois race for Congress

Arthur Jones — an outspoken Holocaust denier, activist anti-Semite and white supremacist — is poised to become the Republican nominee for an Illinois congressional seat representing parts of Chicago and nearby suburbs.

“Well first of all, I’m running for Congress not the chancellor of Germany. All right. To me the Holocaust is what I said it is: It’s an international extortion racket,” Jones told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Indeed, Jones’ website for his latest congressional run includes a section titled “The ‘Holocaust Racket’” where he calls the genocide carried out by the German Nazi regime and collaborators in other nations “the biggest blackest lie in history.”

Jones in a few weeks almost certainly will be a GOP nominee. But he doesn’t plan on seeking support from Illinois’ Republican governor — or the Republican president of the United States.
He doesn't want his appointed cuz Jews
He said in his Pikeville address, according to a video on YouTube, he was sorry he voted for President Donald Trump, who has “surrounded himself with hoards of Jews” including his Jewish son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Often in Chicago areas the real race is the primary because who ever wins the Dem primary is assumed to be the general election winner . I would say it's safe for that seat
to stay dem. Just who??
Plus he is a political freak>

As for Gov. Bruce Rauner, also on the March ballot, Jones told the Sun-Times, “I would not lower myself to ask Bruce Rauner to campaign for me or vote for me.”

If you read the article the Republican part has prevented him running in the past. They don't want him but they're not going to do anything that takes resources away from races where they have a chance.

I can't say I blame them. I'd be tempted to just let him run and loose too.

Total nothing of a story.

It's not a story because it's one lone jackass running as an R. The Republicans just don't want to spend money to stop him running as an R in a district where he has no chance at all.

This is not the same as the GOP actually supporting him like they did for Roy Moore. If the GOP were funding and backing this Nazi it would be a story. They're not, so it isn't.

Yes, the fact that anybody in this country would be such an open and avowed racist is a shame. But apparently, this guy has been at it long before 45 so there is not a correlation and again, not a story.

the other way because it s never a win and their R decency so low it's not worth splintering what little votes they have . Some would like to see me dead
What can the majority which are Dems do? Demand weak Republican Party do better -always but they won't listen
I'm in Chicago and it's not like we don't care . This is a city that when trump was a candidate for the republican ticket made sure he never made it out of the airport and the cops did not tell him to leave town as he said the cops are insistent on that . Filled the streets starting 24 hours before the rally overnight
He never came back for any rallies as presidential candidate . It's not like we don't stand up against stuff like this when it's looking like the could have power.

Look all the way back at Skokie here and all the different races of people that came out against nazis .
Not so many came down to Marquette park though to stop them I will say that but look at it now
They are small evil groups here for a long time but I can not have more than deep distain for them there are others with power now that need to be cared about that matter to more to me my opinion

So will it be acceptable for the Democratic candidate to call him out on it?

Or, will that be considered a negative "attack ad"? Based on what I've been observing recently, apparently such an obvious and advantageous campaign tactic is one makes some people apoplectic.

Personally, I believe it's possible to take the "go high" mantra silly extremes. And in so doing, we will fail to take advantage of our opponents' obvious flaws and faults... and that would make the Democratic candidate vulnerable.

I believe it is the DUTY of every Democratic candidate to viciously and relentlessly attack the GOP opponent. To do less would be to give the advantage to the Republican. It's a sign of weakness to not attack candidates who deserve to be attacked.

Consistently democratic rep area with a hot dem primary going on.

You know who the last rep was before lipinski ? His father for 100 years .
The nazi is a hater and will not win in this area as even a real party backed moderate Repub would lose .

Most voters probably don't even know he is running in the area
All the talk is all about a progressive taking on lipinski in the local Chicago news.

Perhaps in debates candidates have commented on him but sorry, he would not be the main subject or someone to highlight to rally against . I don't think anyone decent will give a lowly hater like this that much importance

I never heard of him although I keep up with local politics
I have been aware for decades of evil nazis in the Chicago area and that didn't start with trump .

Illinois really does hate nazis they are only loved by their measly few own kind.
I think we still have one of the largest Jewish populations and the stat is home to the llinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center
The mayor of Chicago is Jewish. I doubt he will have any official statement on this lone loser
The area he is running in for rep covers part of the city and southwest suburbs in Illinois
