Most likely telling my children loudly not to worry. This man believes in fairy tales and has an invisible friend.
Another question I ask if someone is being obnoxious about me being a freethinker: ask the if they really believe a all powerful god would reveal his presence to an Iron Age band of Nomadic sheep herders in the Middle East?

There's two flavors of deplorable, the venal hypocrites who should know better, and the anti-intellectual ignorant authoritarians, racists, nationalists, etc..
Hard to say which are the easiest marks, the venal hypocrites who actually believe shit like tax cuts, trickle down economics, multi-level marketing..., or the morons who believe Trump was God's chosen.
