https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/03/politics/memo-dossier-christopher-steele-carter-page/index.htmlAccording to an official cited in the Post on Friday, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the matter's sensitivity, the Justice Department presented "ample disclosure of relevant, material facts," to the FISA court, including that "the research was being paid for by a political entity."
The New York Times also reported Friday that the FISA court was told about political motivations behind the dossier. A Democratic memo written to rebut the allegations in Nunes' document said the FBI did, in fact, tell the court that the information in the Steele dossier was politically motivated, even if the bureau didn't mention that research that went into the dossier was paid for by Democrats, the Times reported, citing two people familiar with the Democratic memo.
The Wall Street Journal further reported that, according to a person familiar with the matter, the FISA application disclosed that Steele was paid by a law firm working for a major political party,
Steve Vladeck, a CNN legal analyst and professor at the University of Texas School of Law, tweeted Saturday that the news reports served as "proof that the #mehmo deliberately misrepresented the record to make the #FISA application look shadier than it was" and called the revelations " f)atal to the memo's entire premise."

BOOM. FISA court knew where the dossier came from, despite Nunes fabrications.
and BTW, if information in the dossier was funded by the DNC............ SO THE FUCK WHAT?????????? They smelled smoke, went looking for fire, and FOUND IT. The source of evidence is not relevant to whether a person committed a crime or not, so long as a warrantless search has not taken place to obtain that evidence. Whether the DNC, Mickey Mouse or Luke Skywalker came across the evidence makes no difference, drumpf is a TRAITOR.

(111,110 posts)....or if it was from a political opponent of Trump's, or if they were biased as hell against him, they are only looking for evidence.

(13 posts)The GOP is out in force and on point. They are saying it is wrong to use information generated by a biased political entity for a FISA warrant.
That is complete bullshit. Law enforcement uses biased sources all the time in their investigations. This analysis by Seth Abramson puts the memo to shame.

(58,724 posts)The only thing that matters is what the Republicans say that it says.
Much as I like Adam Schiff - this sort of thing accomplishes not a lot. What we need is for Republicans with a shred of dignity to stand up to the BS.
Until they do - until they attack Trump's tweet this morning - we are in a dark place.

so I don't see how it can be oppositional research. The memo was clearly written by the GOP.
Updated for mistype.
