?ref_src=twcamp%5Eshare%7Ctwsrc%5Em5%7Ctwgr%5Eemail%7Ctwcon%5E7046%7Ctwterm%5E1

Paul Ryan

@PRyan
A secretary at a public high school in Lancaster, PA, said she was pleasantly surprised her pay went up $1.50 a week ... she said [that] will more than cover her Costco membership for the year.

Now if it was 1.50 per hour, I could spare a smile for it. And her Costco membership will expire along with this "huge" tax cut in 3 years. I'm out of adjectives to call the greedy rich ruling class.

Than PA public school employees who are Repugs! I'm sure she benefits from her local ESPA (public school support staff union) which the R's can't wait to kill. Wait til her insurance premiums go up in July like ours will, so long 1.50 and much more.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is another example of Ryan being tone deaf, but Lancaster is a Republican bastion. So, she may have been serious.

The reality is $78 a year isn't enough for most people to notice no matter how little they make or how tight their budget.

Wasn't it Ryan who used the example of the single mother making minimum wage who could use her tax savings to save for her daughter's college, or am I thinking of someone else.

He said she could "start saving for her future" thanks to $700 more in her refund. The exception was his example was making more than twice the minimum wage.

to Paul Ryan!

Those whose employers were quick to make the change welcomed the extra money — anywhere from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars.

Wayne Love, who works in managed care in Spring Hill, Florida, got an extra $200 in his paycheck last week, which he said will help offset a $300 increase in the cost of his health insurance.

Julia Ketchum, a secretary at a public high school in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, said she was pleasantly surprised her pay went up $1.50 a week. She didn’t think her pay would go up at all, let alone this soon. That adds up to $78 a year, which she said will more than cover her Costco membership for the year.

No worker should anticipate a negative impact from the new withholding table if their pay remained the same, said Joseph Rosenberg, a senior researcher at the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.

However, someone who got a raise may face a higher tax rate as a result. And some corporations have been handing out bonuses and wage increases in reaction to passage of the law. A worker’s net pay may also fall if other factors that go into their paycheck changed — such as an increase in health insurance premiums or higher state taxes.

Now, that I can read the cached tweet, it definitely sounds like she was being sarcastic and he is clueless.

Who calls/writes to their Congressman to thank them for giving them what amounts to a free Costco membership?
