I just wanted to say that, the other day, I was thinking about Robert Mueller and his investigation. I want to make sure I understand this properly...if tRUMP hadn't removed Comey and if Sessions hadn't recused himself from the Russia investigation, we would not have a Special Prosecutor, right? So, if we didn't have Mueller's investigation, we would be nowhere near where we are right now in trying to implicate Trump (and his cronies) to the Russia collusion. The Congressional committees would not have been enough to get us to where we are now! Without the Special Prosecutor, we would have been way, way, way more behind than we are now!
To me, it just seems that if tRUMP hadn't been so dumb as to remove Comey or hadn't been dumb enough to bring Sessions on as his Attorney General (meaning Trump being dumb enough to bring on an Attorney General who would later have to recuse himself from the Russia investigation), where would we be now?? I just feel that there has to be another way!
There should be something in our system like allowing for a Special Prosecutor when there is enough evidence to warrant an investigation. Maybe, something like the Senators of the party who want the investigation (whether or not they are in control of the Senate or not) take whatever information they have (even if it's a little amount) to a panel of 3 judges, or something like that, and present their information to them, and the Panel decides whether or not to have a Special Prosecutor assigned.
And, let's say the panel denies bringing on the Special Prosecutor, then there should be a stipulation that every 3 months, if they have more evidence at that point, the Senate could approach the Panel again.
And, then they can even add a rule that if the Panel had deemed that a Special Prosecutor was worthy of bringing on, then the Special Prosecutor must submit a renewal application every 6 months to show the Panel the results of his/her investigation thus far. If the Panel doesn't see the investigation going anywhere, the Panel can then remove the Special Prosecutor. Otherwise, if the Panel feels it to be warranted, the Panel can renew the application of the Special Prosecutor so that he/she can continue his/her job for 6 more months, until the Special Prosecutor again applies to renew the investigation.
Thank goodness, this time around we have someone as dumb as tRUMP, but what about the next time??! Like I said before, if tRUMP hadn't been this dumb, we would be nowhere near where we are now in trying to implicate Trump and his cronies to collusion with the Russians! I just feel there has to be another way - something like what I described above.

(6,855 posts)I believe he let Russians into his campaign because he is greedy and stupid. Too stupid to believe these guys were a threat. He will never understand that because these crooks give him money and praise him that this does not mean that they are good for the country. He does not see country as separate from himself
So when you say what if we weren't so lucky that he is dumb? A smart person could be trainable. If a smart person had done these stupid things and FBI had come calling, smart person would take heed. Would quit doing stupid things. FBI and intelligence might stop seeing smart person as a continuing threat to country. Stupid and traitorous stuff might stop.
Before trump we had a lot of smart crooks doing perfectly legal things ... investing in oil instead of renewables ... allowing money to flow out of
the country ... dirty coal ... all of which harmed the world.
But trump's stupidity is even more dangerous than his greed. He simply cannot distinguish what is good for country or for anyone.
