Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHouse Dems should just release THEIR memo now.
There's no good reason to ever sweat the rules again while THIS crowd is in power. The rules aren't on the side of democracy or the people.
Waiting for GOP clearance to release their memo(clearance we know the GOP is never going to give) is the same thing as giving up.
It also normalizes the situation when there's no reason to normalize it.

(1,474 posts)It is such an obvious load of crap. Why bother? Fight when there is something worth fighting about or for.
You are right about your statements, however. The GOP is a corrupt criminal conspiracy and normalizing it is meaningless. I just wonder if now is the time to make a stand. Their bullshit will go on as long as they are in office.

(3,985 posts)The FBI and DOJ are reviewing the 10 page Dem memo so that no DAMAGING classified info is released. Responsible Dems.
Also, I believe the Executive Branch has to declassify.
However, like the Pentagon Papers, it can be read into the Congressional record on the floor.
Lastly, revealing information that could possibly TAINT one of Mr. Mueller's many investigations would be hugely unhelpful.
BAIT: Dems can't take the bait and spill all the Carter/FISA beans just because the irrespomsible GOP tossed a few sickly beans on the table.
Hell, we can recap the Memo sources in general terms based on what we already know.
30% of Americans cannot be convinced Trump Et Al is capable of wrongdoing.

(118,295 posts)We can have a lot of fun with the current memo, just using good and accurate soundbites

(4,066 posts)Releasing it now without a committee vote would serve the interest of the Republicans. They could say that the Democrats broke the law. It would distract from the big zero that is their memo. They played a poor hand with their memo. Let them spin on the hook.

(11,145 posts)I think the traitors are now secretly hoping/pushing for the release of the minority memo.

(14,836 posts)assuring the committee would stall the release of his memo... long enough for an army off investigative reporters to plaster the memo with bullet holes and, as you said, "let them spin on the hook".

(65,174 posts)But since the Nunes memo is a dud and I feel the Repukes will keep hurting themselves, we can wait.

(19,565 posts)It wasn't declassified as the Nunes memo was, and it won't be anytime soon if ever.
Just a heads up for those playing along at home.

(65,174 posts)Actually it's best releasing neither. But Repukes showed how partisan they are by doing just theirs.

It's not as though we'll ever be rewarded for it.

(14,532 posts)Nunes memo is being widely and wildly mocked right now. Nunes is getting ripped to shreds, as he should. Don't distract from that. Let 'em keep digging.

(19,565 posts)They'll be censured and take media fallout for absolutely no reason. Which will have an impact on Dems in vulnerable seats in November.
The Nunes memo was a massive flop. Why should they put themselves at risk over a big flop on the GOP's part? As it is now we have Graham saying the Dems response will add context to the Nunes memo when/if it's released and we still have the GOP House blocking it. It's a win-win for Democrats to wait this out.
