Salacious And Unverified: Did The Memo Misquote Comey On The Dossier?

https://hotair.com/archives/2018/02/02/salacious-unverified-memo-misquote-comey-dossier/

The only reason he’d hedge on that when speaking in front of the cameras was if there were some parts of the document that had been verified and were being used, or potentially usable, as part of a criminal case. His reference elsewhere in his testimony to “salacious and unverified” material in the dossier almost certainly alludes to the off-the-wall stuff in the document, most infamously the claim about Trump’s alleged activities with Russian hookers. But the material about Carter Page? Not so salacious. And, maybe, not unverified.

Grrr

Anyways, Director Comey meant the blackmail tapes were salacious and unverified. People who claim the statement pertains to the entire dossier (and we haven't seen all of it) are non-thinkers.

And people who say it was bought and paid for are redundant.

Scariest part of the dossier states Trump's team was happy to have the Russian story because it deflected attention away from their dealings with China.

... what the term "salacious and unverified" refers to in the dossier - like the pee tape, contacts with Russian prostitutes, etc.

The two big talking points from the Republicans tonight have been (1) that Comey dismissed the entire dossier as "salacious and unverified", and (2) that McCabe stated that the FISA warrant would not have been obtained but for the dossier.

Both points are lies - and the Republicans know that they're lies - but they keep repeating them anyway.

Its being used as a pejorative.

And its sounds so bad!

But it doesn't mean much...

For a lot of Trump followers, all discussion of sexuality starts at missionary and ends at procreation.

And so, the big question. If it was easy enough for Frey to track down what Comey actually said based on public transcripts, why does Nunes’s Memo insist on implying that Comey claimed the entire dossier was unverified? And if we can’t trust Nunes to be square with us on that, how can we trust his other claims?

If Nunes couldn't get the public information correct, why should anyone believe him on the classified information? Most of which is already publicly proven to be false anyway.

This was such a boondoggle of an attempt by Nunes it's laughable.

... the fact that they attributed a statement to McCabe that he never said - and they have THAT transcript as well.

So again, why paraphrase (incorrectly) what someone said, when you have access to their actual words?

Their playing fast and loose with the publicly available information was just on its face stupid. They could have just stuck to the classified info and then kept blocking the Democrats from releasing their information. But, they instead decided to go this route? It's so stupid it makes no sense.

... anyone connected to Trump actually made sense?

The usual GOP spokes-whores have been all over the map tonight, contradicting themselves, rambling on and on about god-knows-what.

They're losing it - they've gotten to the point where they know they're not making any sense, but they blunder ahead anyway.

The usual SOP for them is to do something blatantly stupid then run about and spread confusion as to why it was done and what the actual meaning of what they did really was. If that starts to fail them then they'll say it was either something Hillary caused to happen or some blather about her emails being the same thing or worse.

I lost my head there for a moment. I thought I was dealing with normal people in the political spectrum who know their every move is being scrutinized by the entire world. Instead, it's this current band of lunatics who are running about like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off making fools of themselves at every turn.

I'm back on track now.
