Jon Swaine of the Daily Telegraph has the story:
In remarks that may prompt accusations of racial insensitivity, one suggested that Mr Romney was better placed to understand the depth of ties between the two countries than Mr Obama, whose father was from Africa.
We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage, and he feels that the special relationship is special, the adviser said of Mr Romney, adding: The White House didnt fully appreciate the shared history we have.

Our Anglo Saxon heritage? Really?
In an stupidly racist gaffe, a Romney advisor tells a British paper his boss better appreciates our former overlord
BY JOAN WALSH
On the eve of Romneys visit to Old Europe, an adviser helpfully told the Telegraph that the presumptive GOP nominee (I always say presumptive, hes so gaffe-tastic, anything could happen between here and Tampa) would make a better president than Barack Obama because:
We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage, and he feels that the special relationship is special. The White House didnt fully appreciate the shared history we have.
The adviser also shared that Romney is better placed to understand the depth of ties between the two countries than Obama.

Romney adviser says Obama doesn't appreciate America's white heritage
An adviser to Mitt Romney told a London paper that Obama has not been an effective partner for Britain because he doesnt fully appreciate Americas Anglo-Saxon heritage. The racially tinged comments come hours before Romney lands in London for a series of high level meetings and the opening of the Olympic Games.

of serfdom and slavery. Imagine...
Funny, but a lot of white people don't appreciate it either.

(115,103 posts)the implication is intensified when you state that it isn't an exaggeration.
If you don't know that anyone said those exact words, please use single quotes.
Not trying to be pedantic, this kind of thing is seriously misleading.

(20,958 posts)didn't have time to consider that finer point of copyediting.
don't worry about sounding pedantic. while i'd never take the chance of seeming like an editing nazi online, it's good that they're people like you who will risk seeming asshole-y in the interest of making things more clear.

(12,151 posts)Obviously someone with ancestors who were the subject of colonialism will never understand things like the Divine Right of Kings, and the heavy burden of violently oppressing people in order to steal their resources and force your culture and religion on them.
