"iron clad" proof, would be enough to move this Republican House to impeach?
The GOPee is part of it and they are in full CYA mode.

(11,100 posts)If the GOP lose enough seats in Congress that they start to see the Orange Abomination as a political liability, they will drop him like a bad habit. It's a balancing issue. At this point, the GOP is more worried about its mindless base. If there is real political carnage this November, they will become more worried about the damage being done to the party.

(11,100 posts)is that things started going south for Tricky Dick when the GOP lost a special election that it "couldn't lose." Again, my memory is that it was clear that Nixon cost the GOP the election. The movement toward abandoning Nixon started at that point.
Nixon was doing far-and-away better in the polls at the time than the Orange Abomination is now. The primary goal of any politician is re-election. If the GOP politicians start to fear than the OA is a drag on their re-election chances, they will not hesitate to throw him under the bus.

I was a young boy during the Cuban missile crisis. The notion that the party in power in the US could sit on their hands while the Russians screwed with the 2016 election is so bizarre and treasonous, I feel that the past year has been totally surreal.

If either of these hit the nightly news its over:
Mueller has delivered his findings to congress and Trumps campaign was working directly with the Kremlin through his children and other aides.
Mueller delivered his findings to congress and there is concrete evidence that Trump sent the Kremlin a message that he would take action to benefit them as President if they helped him win.
Either one and he is done. That is where the bar has been set.

(33,643 posts)HIMSELF speaking to Putin (or someone extremely close to him) about a quid pro quo ... your help in exchange for my doing something of value to you when I'm elected ... and the knuckle-draggers will insist it's just politically-motivated manufactured "evidence" that should not be trusted and/or 'not actually illegal'.
The GOP leadership, in order to keep their base placated, will INSIST that only the absolutely most blatant evidence against Trump PERSONALLY ... is worthy of any sort of consideration ... and there very well might not be ANY blatant evidence of Trump personally colluding with Russians ... in fact I think its likely that at the very best Mueller MIGHT find evidence that he green-lighted others to do so on his behalf. Which will not be enough for the knuckle-draggers. Even though they'd accept 1/1,000,000 as strong of evidence against Obama or a Clinton as iron-clad proof ...

(9,291 posts)If Trump needs to be out of the White House to save the republic, I believe they will discuss with certain members on why they need to get on board.
They need to respect our investigational unit. If they don't, they might go down too.
