Him and all the rest of the Bush administration. People who implement torture and engage in war crimes don't really have objections to anything Trump is doing. I simply can't get behind war criminals. Trump is horrible but war criminals are absolutely no better.

Different styles, same results. A weakened state.

Short memories aside (though no less dangerous), a democracy takes a lasting hit when it allows torture (and the abuses of power behind it). America has yet to recover from the damage the Bush years caused. The attacks on the judicial, on human rights, the rule of law. Trump/the GOP already know what they can get away with, so it's no surprise that republicans would be bolder in their attacks on democracy and democratic principles.

Republicans laid the road Trump is walking down - they don't get to pretend they didn't pave his way.
