1. The left is the law and order party; we see law enforcement as upholding laws and keeping order

The right sees law enforcement as tools of power and subjugation.

Are more anti-police than anybody! Need proof? Just look at that douchebag who was in that car chase that Sean Hannity cut to last week - he's proof! Trump is proof! This is just so fucked up!

It makes perfect sense. RW morans think the laws should be applied to others while they are not beholden to those same laws. That man's lawyer argued that his client has mental health issues. Now, wouldn't it be nice if our country could admit the same of every stinking RW asshole who thinks they are above the law?

But the FBI has always been a model (more or less) of integrity in my lifetime (with a few exceptions).

I think this attack on the FBI and our intelligence services is an utter disgrace.

And I'll remind the GOP that Government employees, inclusing FBI agents are permitted to have strong political opinions, so long as their professional conduct is fair.

9. I think there is a certain irony . . .

that we on the Left are supporting the FBI and Intelligence communities because we've always been accused of being just the opposite. Notice I say 'accused.' I think Dems have always called for fairness in law enforcement and the importance of civil liberties when it comes to surveillance issues. But we recognize that the FBI and our Intelligence Community are societal pillars necessary for our national safety, security and defense. Now more than ever.

Conversely, Republicans have always hooted and hollered about LAW & ORDER. It now becomes clear that they never believed those dictates applied to them, only for others.

Doesn't get much stranger!

locking up liberals, women, gays, the poor, PoC, etc - that is, when law enforcement can be used as a tool to enforce a right-wing agenda, which it often does.

However, when 'law and order' works against them, such as during the civil rights era when schools were desegregated and JFK had to send in troops - then it's 'our state rights are being trampled on'... or with the Tea Party 'don't tread on me' anti-governmentism .. or with Trumpers 'the Deep State/Jews are out to destroy us', etc, etc.

10. Speaking of irony, remember "If you don't like 'Murica, why don't you move to Russia?"

That was a common insult dished out to "long-haired hippie types" back in the day.

Now, the mouth-breathers can't get enough Russia. Or as Alex Jones characterizes it, "White Christian Russia."

often far right.

The FBI was (and perhaps still is) a cesspool of anti-Dem sentiment.

They spent the 90's trying to lock up Bill Clinton, and meddled in the election to prevent Hillary from becoming president.

This is why it is so ironic that the conservative echo chamber is trying to paint the FBI (a very conservative organization) as liberal or something.. absurd... this is a fight on the right that has little to do with Dems.
