.@jaketapper: It's "impossible to imagine a Democratic president doing this, and Republicans on Capitol Hill being as quiet as they are.” It's not partisan politics, it's whether or not you accept that a president is going to try to insert himself into an investigation

The Dems aren't sending out the dogs across media to respond strongly to the things coming out about what Trump has done or said. There's a spattering here and there. And there's a lack of STRONG voices.

It could be that there aren't enough Dems who are strong and nationally known. Or that the Dems are overwhelmed with the deluge of things that Trump has done or said.

But if they think they're going to roll out people for elections, and those people have been silent or weak in responding to these things, I think they're mistaken.

Schiff, Blumenthal, and another Dem (forget his name) are going on media and speaking strongly. Particularly Schiff. There's an occasional one here and there, about this or that.

Democratic Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell as WELL as Washington state Governor Inslee AND AG Bob Ferguson have all spoken out loudly. Washington state sued the shit out of Trump. So maybe it’s a regional impression or state by state.

I'm living in La. right now (ugh), but my senators have been in the news speaking about issues. They're Republican, so of course they are speaking in favor of Republican things. I saw Sen Kennedy quoted in a NYT article recently, and saw him on national tv recently. Sen Cassidy was on national tv several times pushing the tax cut bill and back when he was pushing the GOP healthcare bill.

But the way the Repubs work, if you notice, is when there's a big, or even a semi-big issue, they "send out the dogs" to spread out over the national media, with the same talking points, to hammer home their position. Unless it's so bad or sensitive for them that they decided to say nothing. That happened recently. No Republican would speak about something. I forget what it was (it may come to me later).

CNN, Morning Joe, Meet the Press, Hardball, and maybe even Fox.

I think the politician not only has to appear on shows, but once they decide to be media-oriented and get known, the reporters will try to ask them questions at Congress or other places.

I've seen Schiff a LOT. He's on the House Intel Committee, so he's been very vocal about that committee, trying to let everyone know what's going on. I don't know how he stands it. Blumenthal appears often, too.

It seems that way to me, anyway.

most of the media is RW and not accommodating to Dems.
MSNBC? Half of them are Republican and MSNBC has a small cable audience.
Radio? There are about half a dozen LW radio stations in this country.
NPR? They sound like Fox anymore.

Freespeech TV gives us a fair shot - ever heard of them?

The places that people watch and read. CNN, Morning Joe, Meet the Press, even Fox (some shows), Hardball. The ones that reach the most people. That's what the Repubs do. Repubs appear on all those shows regularly.

Schumer & Pelosi do appear on Meet the Press sometimes. Schiff & Blumenthal appear on tv quite a lot. Sen Warren (intel committee) appears occasionally. I've seen Schiff the most and am impressed at how diligent he is to keep the public informed on the tactics of the House Repubs in that committee.

The Repubs have been doing this for many years. They send out the dogs when something big happens, to all spout the same talking points. That hammers home a message to the public. The Dems do it, too, I suppose, but to a less degree, seems to me.

I saw The View one day, when Maxine Waters was on it. Even an appearance on a show like that reaches a lot of people and she is able to get out a message. She was great on that show, BTW.

A chance meeting on the tarmac in Phoenix that lasted for all of 15 minutes. Wingnuts are convinced this is the Rosetta Stone for understanding and interpreting everything that's gone wrong in their miserable lives for the last 20 years.

But if CNN or Tapper wants to hear a little more noise, perhaps they could have some guests on who aren't in the Republican hierarchy? We keep hearing from jes' plain folks from Knothole, Nebraska who lurve them some Donald Trump. How about a few jes' plain folks from a big city? Maybe even a few who aren't lily white? Whaddya say, media gatekeepers?
