FBI expresses 'grave concerns' about House GOP memo

The FBI said Wednesday it had "grave concerns" about the accuracy of a classified memo prepared by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee, which the lawmakers voted earlier this week to make public.

The decision to release the memo on what Republicans view as misconduct by FBI officials investigating Russia's involvement in the 2016 election is currently under review by President Donald Trump. The White House has said it wants to see transparency around the issue.

"[T]he FBI was provided a limited opportunity to review this memo the day before the committee voted to release it," the bureau said in a statement. "As expressed during our initial review, we have grave concerns about material omissions of fact that fundamentally impact the memo’s accuracy."
