Pelosi: Pundits will say Trump did well 'if his nose isnt running and he isnt burping'

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is predicting the bar will be so low for President Trump when he delivers his first State of the Union address Tuesday night that pundits will declare the speech successful as long as "his nose isn't running."

"If his nose isn’t running and he isn’t burping, he did a great speech," Pelosi said during a House Democratic Caucus meeting, according to Politico.

Also in that meeting, Pelosi reportedly urged fellow Democrats to stay on their best behavior during the address in order to keep the spotlight on Trump.

"Let the attention be on his slobbering self," Pelosi said, according to Politico. "If you want to walk out, don’t come in."

for the institutions of our democracy, no one does. We must uphold them. Hillary attended the inauguration in spite of really, really not wanting to because showing she supported the peaceful transfer of power was her duty. Moral strength, not cowardice.

If anything boycotters would be cowards, except this group is not -- almost every one was or represents others so gravely, specifically insulted by this president that it provides good justification for making this statement. But if they were the only 8 Democrats in congress, they'd attend and sit rigidly tall and silent, that duty outweighing all.
