Trump — who trusts no one, or at least no one for long — has now decided that he must have an alternative strategy that does not involve having Justice Department officials fire Mueller.

"I think he's been convinced that firing Mueller would not only create a firestorm, it would play right into Mueller's hands," said another friend, "because it would give Mueller the moral high ground."

Instead, as is now becoming plain, the Trump strategy is to discredit the investigation and the FBI without officially removing the leadership. Trump is even talking to friends about the possibility of asking Attorney General Jeff Sessions to consider prosecuting Mueller and his team.

"Here's how it would work: 'We're sorry, Mr. Mueller, you won't be able to run the federal grand jury today because he has to go testify to another federal grand jury,'" said one Trump adviser.

This does seem to be exactly what he's doing and the russian rpugs are trying to give him the reasons to do this with the phony memo.

I'm so depressed, can't even watch MSNBC because they will be all "oh, how presidential" and won't cover how this information could get fusion people killed by russia so they can't testify against orange assface. First thing drumpf will do when he sees the names is call Putin who will make sure they can never testify. 2nd good thing foro them is this is all lies and they are trying to prevent the Dems from sharing info that proves this.

What i don't get is why Schiff doesn't just release their memo anyway? If confidential information isn't shared, how can they stop him?

3. He can't because this is nothing like the Feinstein/Simpson release.

The Justice Department sent a letter to Nunes saying it would be "extraordinarily reckless" for him to release his memo without getting it fully vetted and approved by the intelligence agencies -- and the same thing would be true for the Democratic memo. Both of these documents were based on classified info -- secret and top secret.

The Simpson transcript WAS vetted by intelligence and approved for public release.
