His total disregard for the Senate and the rule of law might cause the Senate to react with a vote to protect Robert Mueller, the Special Counsel?
That would be something that Trump does not want and does not expect. However, his lack of respect for the law might backfire on him?
That might be the appropriate reaction to his over-reach to please Putin. He looks like a "compromised" leader.

For Putin because Trump may be up to his eyeballs in DEBT to Russian Oligarchs for his failed business adventures.
The Russians are ruthless. You do not pay what is owed, they come after your family. Starting with the youngest children, saving the spouse for last. I have read numerous books on the Russian Mafia. They take their cues from the Sicilians, but with more brutality to get their message acrossed.
