Republicans to disrupt the State of the Union Address? There are people here at DU promoting ridiculous Republican tactics, like wistfully hoping some hapless Democratic congress member will repeat Representative Joe Wilson's (R-SC) infamous "You Lie!" outburst
Someone else thinks a Democratic lawmaker should invite porn star Stormy Daniels to the SOTU, because Republicans use similar maneuvers and what... do they look classy? Is this a clever strategy, do porn props make Democrats look good?
There are many other posts advocating Democrats toss aside ethics and responsibilty and wallow on the same muck that Republicans are. Someone suggested a "patriot" (presumably a Democrat?) should sneak past security and cut the power cut to Trump's TelePrompter, as if that would somehow make Trump look worse than he is.
Have we come down to the level of plotting how a Democrat could pants Trump, or tape a "Kick Me!" sign on his back? Why is this silly, juvenile stuff being promoted in so many posts? Let Republicans be Republicans. They aren't anything that we need to hold up as role models by trying to mimic their unethical behaviors.
Look, we can expect that Trump will do a decent job of reading a speech that he didn't write. He will talk about things he neither understands or agrees with, and a great deal of what he says will be nothing more than misleading Republican propaganda messaging and outright lies. The regular press corps will critique Trump's performance, and the pundits will excoriate him in light of the latest news. Tomorrow morning Trump will read those criticisms and lash back in a nasty tweet storm, undoing whatever bonus points he may have earned for reading actual words.

Taking pokes at them and watching them get all huffy and puffy about it is entertainment at this point.

(15,805 posts)I appreciate funny jokes and satirical post , but there no way to separate them from someone who is seriously pushing for Dems in congress to pull some juvenile stunt for the shock value on national TV.
