So maybe it would be worth trying to actually negotiate with Stephen Miller, rather than telling Trump that he needs to lock his adviser in a filing cabinet, slap on a beware of leopard sign, and hustle out to the Rose Garden to sign whatever Durbin and Graham have hashed out.
That's the absolute nicest thing I can say about him.
Restrictionist? Mr. Douthat, in my world, he's called a FUCKING NEO-NAZI. Or do you not know about Neo-Nazis unless they boldly scrawl it upon their foreheads in glowing white paint?

(52,227 posts)These hateful people are why we had slavery and Jim Crow and a difficult amendment process and an unrepresentative senate and a civil war and the list goes on and on.
Weve *always* negotiated with them and will continue to do so to the extent that they still have power, because we have to.
But that doesnt mean we shouldnt seek to minimize their power and influence at every opportunity.
Haters are on the losing side of history, even if theyre having a dramatic last gasp with Donnie as president.
