Van Jones: American would be better if Trump were more like Jay-Z
CNN’s Van Jones on Sunday suggested President Trump would be better served if he were more like rapper Jay-Z, after Trump rebuked the music mogul in a tweet.
“So if you wanted to listen to what Jay-Z says, follow Jay-Z’s model, Mr. President,” Van Jones said during CNN’s “Reliable Sources “He’s a strong guy. He’s a rich guy, but he’s willing to be confessional. He’s willing to grow in public. If you do the same thing, America would be a lot better off.”
Jones’s remarks came after he interviewed Jay-Z for his show “The Van Jones Show,” in which the rapper spoke about his marriage to Beyoncé Knowles.
“Sean 'Jay-Z' Carter came on our air last night and he did the opposite of Trump,” Jones told CNN host Brian Stelter. “He came on, he was confessional. He was vulnerable. He talked about mistakes he made in his marriage.”
Trump fired back at Jay-Z early Sunday after the rapper criticized Trump’s reported use of the phrase “shithole countries” to describe immigrants from El Salvador, Haiti and African nations.
“Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my policies, Black Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED!” Trump wrote on Twitter.
