In State of Union, Trump to make case that America is back

WASHINGTON — Seeking to move past the shadow of the Russia investigation, President Donald Trump is aiming to use his first State of the Union address to note the economic progress under his watch while pushing for bipartisanship with Democrats on issues such as rebuilding roads and bridges.

The White House said Sunday that the president would point to a robust economy and low unemployment during his first year and the benefits of his major tax overhaul during Tuesday's address to Congress. The president was expected to set aside his more combative tone for one of compromise and bipartisanship, aides said.

"The president is going to talk about how America's back," said White House legislative director Marc Short. "The president is also going to make an appeal to Democrats ... to say we need to rebuild our country. And to make an appeal that to do infrastructure, we need to do it in a bipartisan way."

Short said Trump would also urge Democrats to support additional military spending in light of "dramatic threats on the global scene."

That whole Tea Party lament "I want my country back" is nothing but a racist hymn to white supremacists.

The GOP under Obama did EVERYTHING they could do to block progress and avoid bipartisanship whenever possible.

They should also point out that Trump's claims to success are ALL riding the wave that the Obama administration managed to create despite the GOP's traitorous obstruction.

All he wants to do is try to sing 'kumbaya' to keep from being impeached.

that's a good idea! Instead of "You Lie!" The Democrats could yell. "Thanks Obama!" every time Trump takes credit for something.

The rise in the markets from destroying EPA regulations, giving a huge tax scam bill to the wealthy and corporations, and more loopholes and them buying back their stock driving the prices up higher for them to profit more from , which will collapse from the trillions he's taken out of our economy. History will repeat itself again, as happened in the 20's and under W Bush. trickle down causes recessions and worse, but he won't tell anyone that.

I have a feeling that most of his claims are distortions or even outright lies.

He's such a pathetic liar and cheat. And when things go south - which they inevitably will under his administration - who is he going to blame for that? Obama? God he makes me sick!
