Two years ago under Obama....

(Ok. Not sure how to link a pic from photobucket. Blah. 2 years ago today gas prices were $1.67)

Today it’s $2.45

Nearly 50% higher.

Now, I know a President isn’t directly responsible for gas prices but his or her policies can and will affect global feelings and right now those feelings ain’t the best

And this is a kind of regressive tax as it affects those with lower incomes much harder. And it has a trickle down effect to other items (food, non-perishables, cost of shipping, plastics, tires, etc) which again is a regressive cost.

just to be facetious...

(although I know where I live here in Philly I never saw the price go below about $2.23/gal at its cheapest)

3. Gas prices are set by comodity traders. What they do is buy futures contracts based on the supply

of available oil in the market. The price of gas was down two years age because the OPEC nations glutted the market in reaction to the increase of supply from the west from fracking. Many western fracking drillers were forced to leave the market because the price of a barrel of oil was lower than their cost of drilling which was what OPEC planned on. So now supply is less, futures cost more and the price goes up.

Obama did not have any effect on the cost of gasoline. Here in CA we increased the tax on a gallon of gas to raise money for infrastructure repair.

We can't base all our decisions only on the effect of costs to those with lower incomes. We need to repair our infrastructure or none of us will be able to drive.

in early 2005. And that was cheap - I remember it because I was pregnant, and noted that the gas station near my doctor's office was consistently a few cents cheaper than those closer to my home.

5. Trump Rule #1: If something good happened under Obama, it was fake news; if the same thing

happened, or continued under the orange aegis (rhymes with anus), it was because of Trump!
