We made big mistake: we should have taken down big players in 08-09 Recession

They bankrolled GOPin 16 aided by Putin. And they're in cabinet and behind GOP congress and tax 'reform.'

They skipped jail to continue to rob us blind.

At least Willy Sutton was finally seen for what he was and caught.

These guys?? M$M running good protection covering up truth.

Most news in local communities no longer have medium or small time local radio shows...Hate radio bought them out... Clear Channel, Sinclair, Fox...they control a single message and spread the mis information nationally...No longer local discussion of local issues and passionate topics....

lets say Trump is guilty of whatever and gets impeached. Ryan, Pence and campaign team guilty of rico charges. Just wondering what happens now? New election? if so who runs the country in-between. Not looking to debate guilt or the charges just want to know what happens if they all go. Ron

happen again.

NEVER let people go on and on about how they dont like the democratic candidate without challenging them and making them say out loud that they dont understand just how BAD the alternative is.

We MUST learn our lesson. Not talking to you, just making a point here and using this thread and your post to do it.

Next time, even if we really dislike our candidate for actual LEGITIMATE reasons and not that said candidate was the target of 25 yrs of relentless lies and propaganda who was in fact a GREAT candidate; we ACT like said person is GREAT whether we like it or not!

When others trash Democrats, no matter when it is or who they claim to be, we fight back... right then. We stop letting our enemies get by with it. We can go high when they go low, but we have to defend ourselves and other Democrats. The Democratic Party will not survive if we don't.

I am done with people who claim to want the same things Democrats want, but then try to trash (and primary) those who are best able to give it to us.

Even the last name on that list is cringeworthy. And you're absolutely right about that. I found myself looking in vain for Nancy Pelosi. We have a lot of support here in NY-21 to return the district to blue in November - 9 Democrats have signed up to run - so far!

All the rest are Trump appointees - which change a lot, but they're still Trump appointees. I certainly hope we can take the House (and that includes my district), but I think a thorough house cleaning would be even better.

Is that the 8 Democrats that do not advance to November still have time to file and run for state and local seats as there's a separate primary.

I hope that is the case in NY-19 and NY-21. Albany needs to be bluer too.

Or, worse yet, what I like to call a thugocracy - rule by criminals. But that's what we're up against. Trump didn't pick those people because they're the best people for the job...explain Taylor Weyeneth, the 24-year-old "drug policy expert" who recently got relieved from the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Most if not all of Trump's cabinet is crooked as a dog's hind leg. If Trump goes, the rest of his administration will surely follow.

Add to this that most of the Republicans in Congress are at least as crooked.

They will probably be stuck with picking the most benign Republican senator as president, an inconsequential Republican governor as VP, and resign themselves to the notion that the White House will be in the Democrats' hands for the conceivable future.

Republicans never worry about that. They only want to win. Bill was impeached for what? Whitewater was about what?

I can’t believe Nixon was let go.

An entire generation of liberal giants was taken from us. Murdered. Snuffed out.

Think about history’s timeline, and how those three would have written it, instead of Nixon, and all the criminals who came out of the diseased lower colon of Nixon’s dying presidency who went on to further our downfall. Dick Cheney, for starters.

However, I was repeatedly shouted down on this very venue.

Instead, the course of action decided on was to direct the relief to the big players at 100 cents on the Dollar with the insistence they would use the money to help out those needing the help. As I said would happen that money was quickly ushered offshore and never helped anyone.

in the recession of 08-09. We don't get to persecute people for their political beliefs in a democracy. Bear Stearns is gone Lehman Brothers is gone. Deutsche Bank is not a US bank. Wynn, Adelson, the Koch brothers, and even Robert Mercer were not big players in the recession.
This isn't Putin's Russia, we have no history of totalitarian government to use an excuse for supporting Trump. and most of us don't.

We began to rely on corporations to at least hedge their bets and give Democrats some support. They still did pretty well when Dems were in charge.
In '08 and '09 the party had to think about financing future elections and could not kill the biggest cash cow. But then, we may not have had enough power to even worry about it if we hadn't courted them previously.
The days of drinking their booze, taking their money, and voting against them are gone.

Not prosecuting anybody in '08 sent a clear signal that we were willing to do nothing about corruption and greed in Wall Street. Absolutely nothing has changed to prevent it from happening again. I am absolutely certain that it will.
