I am extremely impressed. Maybe the most interesting thing on CNN since the Tiannamin square protests. His guest, Jay-Z, blew me away. I confess to having not known much about him previously.

(2,179 posts)The panel discussions do not lend themselves, to say the least, to much subtlety or nuance, and I think both showed not only real intelligence, but more importantly, humanity. Truly inspiring stuff.

(118,658 posts)read a speech at the State of the Union last year Van said he was acting presidential. Republicans hate him because he is another Obama and could change the heart of the base if they enjoy Van's creativity, nuance and compassion. They might get over their racism. Racism is a garden that the GOP must tend and protect. Van crosses lines.

Im sure you could find the clip somewhere.
At any rate, it disgusted me. I had been a fan until that point.

(2,179 posts)Are you talking his singing voice? If so, I can't comment. I've made a note to ask my teenage sons to play a few choice cuts.

(2,179 posts)Just misused "sing", instead of rap, which I confess to not being, in general, too fond of. Though I've recently been introduced to Chance the Rapper, who's got some pieces I can dig.

(2,179 posts)that Mt Jones has not shown sufficient anti-Trump zeal for some. That's news to me. He strikes me as a strong voice of color, unfortunately, something of a rarity.

(89,249 posts)To going after trump van Jones isn't one of them. Neither is David axelrod and those two were supposed to be the main dem voices on cnn during the campaign.

(2,179 posts)I recall seeing his "presidential" remark at the time, and I think he meant Trump looked just looked the part, not that he agreed w/ him in policy or performance. I agree, Angela's another strong voice.

Nobody would say something like this unless they had no real convictions and were being influenced to push the GOP lies. He figured most people would be stupid enough to buy into it just like they did with W.

(945 posts)You make a damning claim, then you make a statement and couch the "statement" in the form of a question.
I'm catching on to this politics thing.
JayZ has given relentlessly to progressive causes, and his dedication to helping the DEM base (Black women) is unmatched and unquestionable. Whether is is out for himself or not, we see the result of his hard work and community centers and inner city schools - places many of us here want focus on til election time.

(945 posts)The answer is, "Yes," by the way. His charitable work does determine how he should be perceived.
Your citing a list without commentary of it is just as silly as your posing your statement as a question earlier.
That tactic comes from the same playbook.

(2,179 posts)Clearly, I missed (or forgot) the memo on Mr Jones, that he has been deemed have insufficiently adhered to the accepted dogma of our group. I will exercise more circumspection in the future before suggesting that he may still have something worth listening to, at least in these parts.
