Meet Bobby, The Real Courtland Sykes.
Posting recently on his facebook page, Courtland Sykes outlined his hopes the daughters he expects to have in the future. “I don't want them to grew up into career-obsessed banshees who forgo home life and children and the happiness of family to become nail-biting, manophobic, hell-bent feminist she devils who shriek from the tops of a thousand tall buildings they are think they could have leaped over in a single bound — had men not 'suppressing them.' It's just nuts. It always was."
In addition to the stories around Courtland Sykes feeling eerily similar to a dystopian novel of 1950s housewives (and Eric Greitens and Bannon) - something wasn’t adding up. We’re left scratching our snake filled heads with SO MANY QUESTIONS.
Who is Courtland Sykes?
Candidate for US Senate for the seat occupied by Claire McCaskill. He filed for his candidacy initially on October 10, 2017 but there were issues with the application and it was sent back to Sykes on two separate occasions. Records also show a filing from September 17, 2017. Missourians have been trying to get to the bottom of this since the fall (and here).
Is that really his name?
That’s a good question. Voter registration records from his home state of Arkansas give his name as Bob Courtland Sykes, as do records accessed through Intelius. Public data searches also do not return results for “Courtland Sykes” but do for “Bob Courtland Sykes” and the latter has an address associated with Sykes in other public records. Further, there is a now closed court case in Arkansas in which a "Bob Courtland Sykes," aged 33, was being sued for debt owed. Records show the case was initially filed on September 19, 2017
Court records show that on the 18th of September, a payment of $80 was made toward the debt by Sykes but on when officials attempted to serve Sykes’ residence with a summons on the 26th, they were told that Sykes’ “daughter in law said he was deceased”. The address associated with this case is the address Bob lived in Arkansas and furthermore, his father and mother are listed as the property owners in Arkansas property tax records. It’s likely that Sykes’ mother, Darlene, made the statement about his death when delivery of the summons was attempted. Records show the case was dismissed after summons delivery was attempted.
Either the person answering the door was confused or someone lied to get Bob out of a debt owed. Regardless, is Bob Courtland Sykes actually our very own Courtland Sykes?
Arkansas court records also link “Bob Cortland Sykes” to a misdemeanor charge of having expired state tags, filed November 14, 1997, to which Sykes pled guilty. On June 22, 1997, the same individuals was cited for lack of liability insurance and careless driving, to which he pled not guilty. On April 15, 2014, “Bob Courtland Sykes” was cited for failure to present drivers license and fined $375.
