Either:
1.) Missouri men don't know how to cook
or
2.) Missouri women don't know how to do anything else
or
3.)
This guy just handed Claire McCaskill another term in the Senate that she wasn't expecting to win

(54,437 posts)I mean, it's not the general sentiment--it's the substance. After all, I expected my daughters to grow up like my wife: independent, strong-willed, intelligent, and conscientious (and they did). They can all cook. So can I. Still, even after 44 years together, if I started demanding that my wife have dinner ready for me every night when I come home (which is anywhere from 4 PM to 1 AM, depending on where I had to be that day), I'd quickly be looking for another place to live--and rightly so.
He apparently expects his wife and daughters to be Stepford androids. I prefer live women. Something's wrong with either him or me.

DFW
(54,437 posts)I think I was lucky enough to marry my intelligent, thoughtful woman because she is nearsighted, and also a social worker by profession. She could have had any man she wanted, so there must have been SOME reason she stuck with a nerd like me!

(10,274 posts)If not, I'm gonna go with you're the one who's ok lol.
Men like this pursue power jobs because they know they don't have any of their own.
He's the poster boy for the 'economically anxious' white male. Fuck him.
McCaskill is gonna kick him square in the nuts this fall...I live in Missouri I didn't expect that she would run again.
Now she gets to win.

(1,151 posts)I often cook dinner during the week because I'm home before he is, but if it were the other way around he'd do the same. If either one of us starting throwing out shitty demands like that, it would not go over well at all.

(19,567 posts)Im not saying itll end up swaying enough Missouri women voters to sway the election in her favor, but it sure helps.
Im more hopeful we might retain her seat now at least!

(29,223 posts)or is there a primary?
DFW
(54,437 posts)But apparently this guy is being taken seriously enough to merit the article. If McCaskill is smart, she'll run against him using his words right up until the Republican primary. If they're smart, so will any Republican challengers for the Senate nomination in the primary, but first off, who said they're smart? And second, his contenders for the Republican primary might all feel the same as he does.

(7,639 posts)If he wins the primary, she wins.
Maybe I'll send him a few bucks even.

(13,390 posts)He won't win. Claire will be running against Josh Hawley. He is the current AG and way too slick to hand her a legitimate rape comment. He is very much a threat.

According to Sykes, feminists push an agenda that they made up to suit their own nasty snake-filled heads.
snip//
The candidate said that he hoped his daughters do not grow up to be career obsessed banshees who forgo home life and children and the happiness of family to become nail-biting manophobic hell-bent feminist she devils who shriek from the top of a thousand tall buildings they are [SIC] think they could have leaped in a single bound had men not been suppressing them. Its just nuts.
So they should all be Porn Stars like mrs trump.

(54,437 posts)Yeah, I actually liked my house full of she-devils and banshees. As the only man in the house, it was never dull!

(297,655 posts)like trump. I guess he won the primary like trump.. whomever is the nastiest asshole wins.
Damn the brainwashed dipshits.

(54,437 posts)McCaskill told me to my face in so many words that the one comment was the only reason she was looking at another term in the Senate. She had no illusions about what turned the tide. This time, she knows for a fact how effective a weapon it is to toss such a comment from a right wing opponent right back in his face. You can believe her campaign staff is on this.

(297,655 posts)and darn if she hasn't caught a lucky rw big mouth idiot break this time around, too!
The way all the articles were talking about him on Google I thought sykes was already the candidate.. but I checked further after reading your post above and see that the repub primary is August 7, 2018.
sykes thinks he's hot shite 'cause' he's a bully and Navy vet. Making quite a name for himself if you like those dragging themselves through the sewer.
To be clear.. there are plenty of Wonderful Navy vets.. just not this one.

(54,437 posts)But extremists like this idiot, just like the guy that won the last Republican primary, Todd "Legitimate Rape" Akin, tend to do well in Missouri Republican Senatorial primaries. Of course, it is likely that some of his fellow Republican contenders might get the hint of what happened to Akin six years ago, and try to use this guy's comments against him in the primary. However, extremists winning Republican primaries does seem to be the norm rather than the exception these days. Don't forget that Roy Moore trounced Luther Strange in the Alabama Senatorial primary, and Missouri isn't much more of a hotbed of enlightened liberalism than Alabama is. This clown is just nuts enough to win the Republican primary.
Cha
(297,655 posts)the more rabidly nasty someone is the more likely he will be the winner.
Good Luck to Claire McCaskill!

(17,184 posts)Every morning when I walk the dogs. Plenty of room for leads, camera, tissues, keys and most importantly - my whistle.
It's a super loud, authentic FIFA referees whistle. I blow it when the dogs bugger off into the sand dunes chasing foxes and wallabies. I don't expect them to come back when I whistle; it's purely to let them know where I am when they decide to return.
Courtland Sykes just whisled up every resentful, inadequate male in the US.

(94,728 posts)Sykes appears to be a less consequential candidate in the Republican Primary. He's running against the State Attorney General and several other Republicans who've raised far more money.
I like bashing the GOP brand as much as anyone, but this guy has next to zero chance of beating former Mo. AG Josh Hawley in the primary.
That race will take a miracle to win and wasting our time dancing around this fool means less time working FOR McCaskill and she is in desperate need of help. We can't win in Missouri without huge turnout in St. Louis and Columbia and her name is close to "Mudd" in the black community after she stood up for Ferguson prosecutor McCulloch's grand jury whitewash in the Michael Brown murder.

(54,437 posts)You'd think that some of these Republicans are consulting Stewart and Colbert to find out what would make them seem completely ridiculous, and then they follow the advice they're given to the letter. The dread grows when one realizes they come up with these routines on their own, and are perfectly serious to boot.

(38,445 posts)This could be some pre-primary chatter. The idiot who made that other comment years ago, did so a month or two before the final election. What did he say?... Something about women preventing pregnancies just by thinking about it?..or was that some other idiot.?
