Who is really behind the leaks, an alternate theory

Trump announces a path for citizenship and arrives in Switzerland to glorify among the world's elite . . .

except that when he lands the only story is that he had eliminated his "I didn't know this was bad" defense because last June he tried to fire Mueller and was cock blocked by the WH Counsel. It makes look weak, stupid, careless and guilty.

Now the working presumption is that the Republican Party is both stupid and evil. What if they are evil but not stupid.

It is rather remarkable that every single time that Trump gets on a plane and goes somewhere, Saudi Arabia or China for example, there is a very serious leak and it undermines Trump's news cycle when he should be getting good press, if he didn't do stupid things like grab an orb in SA.

Next week the whole dynamics of the Republican Party will change with Romney's announcement that he will be a candidate in Utah's Senate race. Preliminary indications are that he will win in a super landslide, 70%. He will steal the winning aurora and present a scandal free (both personal, business and as Governor) alternative to Trump.

Perhaps there is an inner circle of Republicans who know enough about what is happening in the WH to know that Trump's fall is inevitable and that within 6 months Trump will be forced to resign. Pence appoints Romney to VP and Pence leaves to a huge payoff leaving Romney as the President and he brings back Ryan as his VP.

Ryan is awfully quiet and composed for a guy whose House is burning to the ground around him. This would give the Republicans a fresh face and significantly reduce losses in the House and provide what is needed for the Republicans to keep the Senate.

Romney does a deal on DACA and other broadly popular ideas. The move for the wall is replaced by improving technological advances to improve border security measures. The most powerful argument for the Democrats; "We aren't crazy and we aren't Trump" is eliminated and the Republicans will have a more even playing field for the off year elections.

There will also be a honeymoon period for Romney. He will be welcomed abroad. We will return to the climate treaty. All of our allies will rush their leaders here to praise the change.

I have no proof of any of this of course. This is what I would do if I was in the Republican inner circle.

Of course the first thing I would do is to keep Trump off balance. Every time he gets on a plane I would make sure that there was a crippling leak that would undermine his whole Presidency.

Just saying that is what I would do if I was in their shoes and wanted to pull their party over the greatest disaster they faced since Nixon. The leaks against Trump, both when he gets on a plane and the inevitable Friday night bombshell that will dominate the Sunday shows sure seems to fit a pattern.

and Romney?

Hard to imagine.

I also think that Pence will be going down along with Trump.

Flynn came clean in court this morning. He wasn’t freelancing at all with the Russians. Rather, Flynn said he kept high-level officials with the Trump transition team informed about his dealings with Kislyak, and even followed instructions from “a senior member” (identified by The Post and other outlets as Jared Kushner) to speak with foreign ambassadors, including Kislyak, about an Egyptian-sponsored resolution at the United Nations.

So senior officials on the Trump team knew Flynn had lied to Pence about the Russian contacts, but they let the vice president go on national television and speak untruths. Or — and here’s where it gets even stickier — transition team leader Mike Pence knew what “senior” transition team members knew: that Flynn was acting on orders with the Russians. If that’s the case, Pence fits the bill of a knave.

Trump had hesitated to settle on Pence, who was governor of Indiana. Trump was fielding last-ditch appeals from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and publicly said he had not made a “final, final decision” until advisers like Manafort reminded him of the importance of uniting the GOP around conservative Christian values.

CBS News reported that Pence was Manafort's "first choice" and that Manafort even lied about mechanical problems on Trump's plane to make the soon-to-be GOP nominee stay an extra day in Indiana to get to know Pence. In a phone call, Manafort assured Trump that Pence was the right choice and made a case that won over the real estate tycoon.

election tampering and the FBI and GOP knew, but instead went after HRC and e-mails. Corporate media is not talking about that, but instead about leaks on potential firing of Mueller.

and Pence becomes 46... why wouldn't Pence simply stay on?

Pence is more acceptable to the Freedom Party types than Mittens.

Pence is WAAAY more acceptable to the evangelical base than a Mormon... in fact, it has long been my belief that if Romney was simply NOT Mormon, it is quite likely that he beats Obama.

And if Pence is too entangled in the Obstruction case ( and I really believe that no matter how strong that case or the "collusion" case really is, it is really the money laundering and tax avoidance that takes down Trump ) and Pence resigns as well, why wouldn't Mr. Ayn Rand ( Ryan ) simply want the job for himself?

is next in line - that all has to happen before the Nov election. The Repugs risk losing the WH if the Dems win the House back. That puts a Dem (probably Pelosi) next in line. So if both Trump & Pence are taken down the Repugs need that to happen before the Nov election. So that leaves about nine months for the Trump WH to be cleaned out.

I’d rather trump serve the term while completely destroying gop. It’s not just good enough for us to win the presidency, we need majorities in the house and senate to be effective. And also on state level.
Pence scares me becauee he will be scandal free and more effective than trump and can unite gop.
The whole administration is a bunch of leakers (per wolff’s book).
