I keep seeing and hearing the term "Perjury-Trap."
I did a little searching and found several sites that said the term refers to a defense against a perjury charge.
from: https://definitions.uslegal.com/p/perjury-trap-doctrine/
Perjury trap doctrine refers to a principle that a perjury indictment against a person must be dismissed if the prosecution secures it by calling that person as a grand-jury witness in an effort to obtain evidence for a perjury charge especially when the persons testimony does not relate to issues material to the ongoing grand-jury investigation. The perjury trap is a form of entrapment defense, and so must be affirmatively proven by the defendant.
A Washington Post opinion piece says "
No, Trumps interview with Mueller wouldnt be a perjury trap."
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/no-trumps-interview-with-mueller-wouldnt-be-a-perjury-trap/2018/01/25/cbe60e8c-01db-11e8-9d31-d72cf78dbeee_story.html?utm_term=.412a6fe19da1
Now am I wondering if the media is being suckered into using a term that implies tRump's innocence no matter how he lies.
We know tRump will lie because it is what he does. He can lie about his height, accomplishments, or whatever and not be charged with perjury unless it is material to the investigation.
