Sen. Johnson went on television and claimed that "an informant" revealed information about a "SECRET SOCIETY."
It was made up bullshit. The "informant" was a fabrication.
Johnson humiliated himself and demonstrated that he is an ignoramus. But what he also did was mislead the American people by claiming that there was a treasonous cabal working within the structures of our government that had the goal of bringing down our democracy. It is a disgraceful act for an elected official.
In another time, there would be calls for his resignation. If he had a shred of dignity he would apologize and resign. Sadly, it is obvious that dignity, along with imaginary informants, does not exist in the republican party.
