Somebody is "woke," but it's not elected Democrats.

On All In last night, MSNBC host Chris Hayes challenged Michigan Democrat Sen. Gary Peters for voting to reopen the government on McConnell's assurances that there would be a DACA fix. “It’s never going get a vote in the House unless the president puts pressure on Paul Ryan. So (Donald Trump) is just going roll you again in three weeks,” Hayes said.

Even more striking was the appearance last night by Women's March organizer Linda Sarsour and New York magazine's Rebecca Traister. Both were on fire, Sarsour told Hayes:

We were standing up for Dreamers. We were standing up for our undocumented families ... We are outraged that millions of people went out into the streets in support of Dreamers and Senate Democrats chose to vote against Dreamers in this [continuing resolution] bill ... They will not ignore us at the ballot box.

Traister concurred that women and the growing activism of the Democratic base is not being taken seriously by Democrats in leadership:

And they don't connect these marches — just these cute marches with the hats — with the fact that it's women who have been clogging Congressional phone lines, who have been doing the town halls, who have been organizing on the grassroots, activist level around state and local office races around the country, who have been winning in New Jersey, in Virginia, and who are running in unprecedented numbers for the House, the Senate, and they are primarying Democrats from the left.

Was that supposed to make McConnell and the Republicans fold and agree to Democrats demands?

I don't understand that argument?

Lest we forget, Democrats do not control any branch of government.

Ms. Sarsour and Ms. Traister were so eloquent. I was impressed by their leadership style, courage and determination. They are on a mission and are bringing millions along with them. Next time I see them on tv, I will most definitely stop and listen.

...for what the House might do to a bill they produce may be factually correct, but it's a lousy argument against the compromise.

Three weeks to work out a bill in the Senate isn't capitulation, it's regular order. That's as much as Democrats are EVER going to get from this Senate, and Hayes knows this.

We were played for chumps. And they got exactly what they wanted - distance from the Muller investigation and all the media outlets pointing fingers at the Dems for the shut down. God damn it. We've got to stop falling for their bullshit.

who are crying now I recognize them on social media) refused to vote not just for Hillary but for Congressional Democrats as well. Those who call themselves progressive and did this have dreamer blood on their hands. We have no levers of power. Keeping the government shutdown was not going to advance DACA...the GOP loves a government shutdown...and it hurts our electoral chances which is our only way to stop Trump. Schumer tried because the dreamers deserved such a move...but it didn't work. And I am sick about it and thankful my conscience is clear. I both promoted and voted for the Democratic nominee and voted a straight Democratic ticket in 16.

and got lambasted. Both, the first march in 2017 and the conference, this women tried to own the women's movement and women fought back. They backed down. This time, they waited until after the movement to take ownership of women's voice. Shameful.

voting for Stein slime, now expect the Democrats they rendered powerless to save them...they did this and have dreamer blood on their hands. Democrats have no levers of power and without GOP votes...the Dreamers won't be saved no matter what we do...so let's think about this...whom do we blame...Democrats who would never have rescinded DACA or the GOP who did rescind DACA and now refuse to fix it...and they own the entire government. Chris Hayes can fuck off. And Traister can fuck off too. I am sick of seeing the leadership attacked. They have been stellar ...the GOP owns it all. We have few weapons in our arsenal except public opinion (which does not favor a shutdown for DACA according to polls) and delay. The Leaders have used what they have very effectively.

It's like they think the marchers are marching for them. They seem awfully presumptive in thinking that millions of women who march share their particular views. I'm emboldened and feel hopeful seeing the crowds of millions during the marches, but the so-called leaders? I'm not impressed.

I was surprised to see that they did not, and we women could go out and march instead of a fight with this very small group. Imagine my lack of surprise to hear, a day or so later, these women taking ownership.

They do act as if we march for them, and their voice. They are been consistently schooled. One has to consider.

I was still seeing pink hats worn yesterday, while I was out and about. A lot of fun.
