This is progress!
LOréal Paris has made tremendous strides toward inclusivity by casting Amena Khan ― a British beauty blogger who wears a hijab ― for its latest hair care product, Elvive.
A blogger, model and co-founder of Ardere Cosmetics, Khan has called the new collaboration game changing. She is the first woman who wears a hijab to be featured in a major mainstream hair ad.

(51,004 posts)eye makeup or lipstick or skin care products? That would be awesome. I'd buy them if she advertised them.
But hair care? What's next? Car ads with photos of garage doors and no cars?

(11,119 posts)I don't care that she exposes her hair at home - her hair is not exposed in the photos promoting the product!

(89,264 posts)I think that would actually be better. Show her coming home and taking off her hijab and how the hair still looks great even after being covered up so long.

I'm not sure this woman does but for those who do the ad would be fine.

(9,350 posts)You might be trying to be sarcastic, but I agree with what you said. My first thought when reading the news was, why get a woman who wears a hijab to promote a hair care product. I realize she takes the hijab off when she goes home, but why would any company want someone who does not show her hair outside the home to promote their product. Isn't the whole point of the hair care industry the ability to show off your hair when you go outside of your home?
