Mark Gonzales: The Church Must Prepare Candidates To Take Over The State

Earlier this week, Religious right pseudo-historian David Barton and former Rep. Randy Forbes celebrated Religious Freedom Day by hosting an eight-hour Facebook live event called “Keep Faith In America,” which consisted of live footage of various state events recognizing Religious Freedom Day interspersed with pre-recorded videos from, and live interviews with, various Religious Right activists and leaders.

At one point, Barton interviewed Mark Gonzales of the U.S. Hispanic Action Network, who said that politicians must be made to fear the power of the church and that churches must prepare conservative Christians to run for office in order to spread the correct “biblical values” over the states and eventually the entire nation.

“There are two things that are missing in society,” Gonzales said. “The fear of the Lord and the fear of the church. The fear of the Lord, that is prayer. The fear of the church, that is political. Let’s just be real about it.”

Barton and Gonzales agreed that politicians wanting to speak at churches is a good sign because it means that the churches have a lot of influence and makes elected officials think, “Ooh, I don’t want to cross that church … I don’t want to get on the wrong side of [them].”

7. So, Gonzales wants to feed the hungry, house the homeless, and treat the sick?

Or is he talking about some other biblical values that Jesus didn't talk about or model? My money's on the latter, since he's talking about making sure people fear the church. Why would anyone fear to have adequate nutrition, safe housing, and health care?

9. So what is the difference between this

and the Taliban?

There is very very little difference. And that's the scary part.

They know that people are becoming enlightened and they are quickly and massively moving away from religion and moving inward, finding the spirit within themselves. This is part of the evolution of the spirit - metaphysically speaking. Baby souls need the black/white, good/bad, right/wrong, heaven/hell structure of church and religion. More evolved souls understand that it is not necessary to give your power to a church, or bow to and give your money to people who teach all facets of fear in order to hold on to those who are left that believe without question. They are also breeding huge families and taking them out of society, burying them in incestuous households that "teach" false facts based on their VERSION of biblical teaching, preparing them to take government jobs, taking them to far right political events that reinforce the only version of life that they are allowed to live in. They have very little idea of what life really is because their every waking moment is CONTROLLED and they are fed only far right "Christian" "facts".

Its brainwashing - think the Duggar family - they are a perfect example of this. Even down to the incest, husbands being picked out for them, government /church, home school - the whole thing. This is what we have for the youth. There really isn't much left for middle of the road people of faith.

Its very sad for those who really wanted that community, but it is opening up a whole new world for the young who are searching within and will be all the better for it and for the world that they will inherit once these old bigots die off!

The things that you have to believe to be a fundamentalist Christian today are insane. It really is like the Taliban. You would think these two would make natural allies because they have the same insane system of beliefs but they don't. Look at those horrible people in Perris - they are a perfect example of this. They appear to be good natured people because they love Jesus and that's what society says is acceptable, but something much uglier lurks underneath.

It's not like a cult. It is a cult complete with the required checking your brain at the door and dutifully spewing their on special brand of crazy.

The fools aren't reading the pew polls showing religion dropping like a stone and atheism soaring.

But they'll keep trying. They always do.
