I was listening to CNBC on TV when Trump came on in Pennsylvania. Among other lies which came out of his shithole, he made an announcement that Apple is bringing back $380B, billion with a B he said back from overseas, and the audience went crazy, and he had called Tim Cook to thank him. Since I have a few shares of Apple, anything said about them captures my attention. I knew I hadn't heard that amount mentioned before, so stopped what I was doing to listen. Trump said that they were bringing $380B back from overseas and they were going to invest it in the US. Well after Trump finished, the CNBC program retusumed and they started talking about Trump's mentioning of Apple, and I knew that those figures he had stated didn't seem correct to me, and the anchors were sitting there fudging I guess wondering if any of them were going to call out his lies, errors, etc because they had to have known they were incorrect, if I did..
Or course they didn't, but CNBC did offer some "alternative facts" and that is that Apple plans to Repatriate $252.3B of the Cash they have overseas, with $38B going to Taxes and the entire remaining $215B going back to Shareholders in stock buybacks. Contrary to what Trump said, that doesn't sound like an investment in America to me. Now as an avid Apple follower, I know that Cook is planning to building an Apple factory here in the US that will employ workers here, but bases on what I just saw on CNBC, that entire amount that is being repatriated is going to Shareholders, less the amount owed on it for Taxes. Trump just makes up shit and his audiences buy it hook, line and sinker. Now I assure you that Trump will continue to repeat his lies, because that is what he does.
