10% Unsure?
In a CBS News poll, Trump stands at 37% approval to 58% disapproval, while an NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds him at 37% approval with 53% disapproval and 10% unsure.
According to the NPR/PBS/Marist poll, 53% of Americans see Trump's first year as a failure, and 61% believed he is doing more to divide the country than unite it.
Trump receives the most praise for his handling of ISIS and the economy.

(56,828 posts)while job creation was down in 2017, it was still decent. And, Trump and the RW media endlessly touts any semblance of good news "Joe's Pizza Shop hired a new delivery driver thanks to Trump!!!!!"
The Trump Tax Scam and bigly increase in defense spending hasn't blown up the economy yet, either.

(396 posts)electorate are not only not driven by racism and sexism, but many of them actively support racist policies. I think a lot of people on the Left have been in denial about racism apologists on the Right for a long time. It's becoming clear now who they really are. Trump's daily tracking numbers went up on Gallup after the "Shithole-gate" controversy. They voted for him already knowing he was a racist and many of them don't care. A good number of them voted for him BECAUSE of that. I've never bought into the idea that a majority of his voters were driven by psuedo-economic populism. People just liked the fact that he was "being a straight shooter" on the blacks, Mexicans and Muslims. Which is simply code for "I like his racism."

"I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldnt lose voters"

(24,414 posts)What was his big achievement in either one of those areas? ISIS was already disintegrating under President Obama and AFAIK Trump basically was doing the same stuff. Same with the economy. He hasn't been POTUS for an entire FY yet. And it seems like layoffs are up instead of down.

(65,076 posts)Talk about being easily pleased! ISIS was, as you say, in tatters, 2 years ago. What a bunch of idiots.

(296 posts)I am sure you have all watched Fox News, at least until you gag, but that is the explanation for the 37%. Faux News and other right-wing media outlets do nothing but talk up Trump and denigrate Dems. They spread so much misinformation to those fools, they think Trump is the greatest thing since Reagan. And it is the only News source they use. But, even local news and newspapers do not paint a true picture of just how willfully anti-American Trump and the Republicans truly are.
Obama's approval rating would have been in the 80's with a propaganda machine like Fox behind him.
