PA-18: Republicans Dispatch Trump to Save a House Seat

“Republicans are scrambling to save a heavily conservative House seat in western Pennsylvania, dispatching President Trump to the district on Thursday while preparing a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign to stave off another embarrassing special election defeat in a district that was gerrymandered to stay Republican,” the New York Times reports.

“Holding just a 24-seat majority, with retirements of veteran lawmakers piling up, House Republicans can scarcely allow Democrats to snatch a seat they have not even competed for in recent elections.”

“And Mr. Trump is loath to suffer another electoral humiliation, particularly in a district that he carried by 19 percentage points in 2016.”

By not (openly) supporting Nancy Pelosi, he's taking attack ads away from the GOP.

Nancy Pelosi's name is toxic to GOP voters and conservative leaning swing voters.

I had never in my life contributed money to a politician -- until the race in Alabama came down to the odious Roy Moore versus Doug Jones. I contributed to Jones. How did that turn out?

Maybe this could turn into a trend.

You can't take it with you.

Thanks.

Just google his name. You will find his site.

And please do not forget to give to the party, if you can afford it. And I apologize for asking you to donate without stating if you can afford it. Too many people give to causes that they believe in but cannot afford. If giving makes things tough on you, then find a way to volunteer to make calls or knock on doors.

Life has been good to me but I work a lot so my contribution is financial. Virginia and Alabama taught us that people matter as much as money!

Have a nice evening.

I give $10/month to each of the following organizations:

-Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
-Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee
-Democratic Governors Association
-Democratic Attorneys General Association
-Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee

This gives me a sense of doing my part without going broke trying to help people all over the country (though I occasionally kick in for special elections).

It's an R11+ district, and the kind of area the Trumpsters say will never turn its back to Orange Julius. It could even be bigger than Doug Jones' election.

Now would be a good time to support @ConorLambPA, Saccone’s opponent.

The day Trump arrives in #PA18, Democrat @ConorLambPA is out with his first ad. Jobs, health care, guns, no "corporate PAC money." https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=4BnOHydNcrM

But DU is a diverse place. If I had to guess, he is like many in our party. Personally against abortion but believes it is a right.

Remember that is Kaine’s position and he got beat up here for it. Many called him anti-choice. Ironically, most of them are gone now??

Never understood the difference. If you think it should be legal, you are pro-choice. Hell, my father hated alcohol but did want to bring back prohibition.

But I do not know his exact position.

Isn’t a true liberal. He is not an idealog but he is a solid Democrat who did lots of great things for Nashville and Tennessee. He had a lot of crossover voters because of his business acumen. He has built a successful solar panel business after becoming wealthy with a healthcare company.

about an ad he saw today claiming the Democrat has voted for Nancy Pelosi's liberal agenda. Even though he has not yet been in the House.

I suggested he do as I've done, and get rid of his TV altogether.

The real problem with campaign ads is that they NEVER give any real information about the issues and how a candidate stands. They are invariably attacks, often false, on the opponent. I frequently say that the very best thing about not having a TV is that I never see campaign ads. The second best is that I don't see regular ads, either.

And it's not as though I don't watch TV shows. The internet allows me to watch much of what I'd like to see. Only without ads. Think about it.

Get your information from genuinely reliable sources.

Here's the problem. Most people don't read. They don't read books. They might watch videos on the internet, but the don't read from the actual reliable sources out there.

Back in the early 1970's, when I was in the first of my several episodes without TV, a co-worker was convinced that I could not possibly know what was going on in the world if I didn't watch television. So he'd quiz me on stuff. And to his amazement, not only did I know what was going on in the world, but I knew even more than what was generally reported on TV. Because I read the general news magazines of the time and the local newspaper (which was the Washington Post). But more importantly, I read books. What a weird thing, I know. Books on all sorts of topics. Books that gave me background information and often reasonably current information on all sorts of topics.

Anyway, while I do recognize that lots of stuff on TV is worthwhile, it's possible to see most of that without the commercials. Over the internet, for example.

Whenever some sort of breaking news occurs that I want to be able to follow, I'll find out what the local TV stations are there. Often they will have gone to streaming video, so I'm getting the real thing from the local on the scene folks. And usually without commercials.

Commercials tend to make us stupid and want to buy stuff. Especially if you don't have much money, which I don't, not watching stuff that tells you your life will be perfect if only you buy things, makes my life much better. I'm not driven to buy things. I'm reasonably content with what I have.

And did I mention that I don't see political commercials?

Very untruthful. It's being run by Joe Ricketts of Chicago Cubs fame. The PAC is called for 45 for Saccone or something similar.

I live right on the border of PA-18, we're in PA-12. That ad fired me up so bad yesterday, that I immediately went to Conor Lamb's website and made a contribution!

It would be great to win PA-18!
