Hitting the end of our tolerance
For a long time humanity has exhibited greediness of all kinds. That greed opened the door to the exploitation of everybody and everything for personal gain without regard for the damage it left in its wake. Greed is not who and what we are but it is how we have behaved. Greed is like a parasite. It attaches itself to a host and when it has finished consuming its host it runs out of food and then dies of starvation. The parasite of greed ends up in self destruction.
One of the most powerful forces within us is the will to survive. It can be seen in a tree when its roots cling to the side of a mountain in order to sustain its access to the earth which provides it with food. It can be seen in an animal that goes into hibernation in order to preserve its energy and its resources. We can observe the will to survive within all living things.

There are people who are in positions of power who are greedy and who are so deeply identified with greed that they believe that greed is who they are and not just an idea that they have believed in and have invested themselves in and that they have allowed to consume them. They are unable to let go of greed because they see it as the death of themselves and therefore they see greed as the only means to their survival. They believe if they stop being greedy they won't survive. They are going to find it difficult to change because they have embodied a self destructive parasitic kind of behavior. But the people who are aware of the suffering that is caused under this way of being and behaving and who can see where this is heading understand the urgency and the necessity for change. They understand that our survival depends on our capacity and our willingness to change.
We have the power to create robots and we have the power to create happiness and if we are going to be able to create happiness it will have to be through systems and structures that are inclusive and that honor our humanity and that also honor the well being of the earth. We are an interwoven interdependent whole therefore we can no longer continue to behave as if we are separate.
Refusing to recognize that we are interdependent and interconnected would enable us to continue to justify the exploitation of everything for personal gain without regard for the consequences. We are experiencing the consequences and the consequences are intolerable. This makes it clear that we must change direction.

The greed is not just about money. The greed is in keeping America white and frankly males in charge now and forever more. They see their foothold slipping away and they can't handle that. They feel it is their right, they feel superior and refuse to let go of what they foolishly believe is their God given right to an America that is solely theirs. It is not.
The clock is ticking and the census shows us that the scale is tipping. No wonder trump and his supporters are fired up, their whiteness will no longer be the majority in America and they can't handle that.
