Jim Acosta: White House press aides shouted in my face to drown out my questions

Last edited Tue Jan 16, 2018, 03:04 PM - Edit history (3)

As I attempted to ask questions in Roosevelt Room of Trump, WH press aides shouted in my face to drown out my questions. I have never encountered that before.

What occurred reminded me of something I would see in a different country. Certainly not at the WH. Certainly not in the U.S.

Editing to add that Trump pointed at Acosta and told him to get "Out!" in the Oval Office, before the problems with the press aides described above.

In Oval Office pool spray, I asked why Trump wants more people to come in from Norway. He said he wants people to come in from everywhere. Verbatim coming.

When I tried to follow up on this in the Oval Office, Trump told me to get "out." We then went to the Roosevelt Room where WH aides obstructed us from asking questions.

Editing again to add tweets with video from ABC's Dan Linden:

I disagree. The free press is holding firm, and any further efforts by 45 to limit it will not move forward. Trump is now even quarreling with The WSJ, a Rupert Murdoch publication. And the next President will not be Republican.

I read the results of a Pew poll as linked from a Krugman article, and the number of Repub's that think the news media is a negative force in America was 85%.

The number that think HIGHER EDUCATION is a negative was almost 60%.....58, I believe.

Those numbers are just appalling.

Bullies eventually go after everyone. Fox and Murdoch's turn is coming.
He will do something so egregious that even they will not be able to ignore it.
Chris Wallace and Shep have already started it.

associated Trump's dictatorial command with every other tinpot tyrant who has made a similar outbursts on camera. They lacked the one thing that should have made Trump's order impossible, Freedom of the Press as enshrined in our Constitution.

I presume it was at the tail end of the availability, and there was no time for a reaction as Trump skedaddled away from the mean reporters. But I'd like to think that Acosta, backed by every other reporter and person in the room, stood firm and refused to be bullied.

His “claim to fame” is what an amazing business person he is...sooooo...why was he in a business deal (Soho Hotel) with a known Russian mobster (Felix Sater) that was leading a corrupt organization (Bayrock Group) that was known to have stolen money from Kazakhstan?
Why is the answer “I don’t know. I have no idea” to “was your real estate project (Soho Hotel) using embezzled money that was stolen by corrupt politicians and Russian mobsters?”
the POTUS just answered “I don’t know” to the question of embezzlement and money laundering!!!

that BS answer, "I don't know". Especially after the WH doctor said he is fine and dandy. Time for a mental exam? Alzheimer's?
